Why should we buy this over a new spur/pinion gear?

You seem to be selling them throughout the forums, as well as lots of other new parts, you can contact Futureal and get your own shop thread..

I think that this might actually make a little bit of a difference. The TC3 has a 2.5 internal ratio and I think it is the most efficient car on the market. It's a little pricey but the aluminum gears should last a long time.

You could either change the spur or pinion to get back to your normal gear ratio. For example, I'm running 103/29 with a 10 turn which gives an 8.35 final drive ratio. I could either go to a 103/31 to get an 8.30 fdr or 97/29 to get an 8.36 fdr. Personally, I like to run larger spur gears so that the motor is pushed out farther on the chassis to help balance the car better, without having to add as much weight to the right side of the car. As it is, I already have 42 grams added to the right side of my car to get it close to balanced. The larger spur gear also gives the car more off power roll.

If your asking how to gear a particular motor, it depends on the track. Gear it so it tops out 3/4 down the longest straight as a starting point.

If your asking what size gears with the same ratio will give you the best rpm or torque: In theory, reaching a specified gear ratio with a small spur and small pinion as opposed to a large spur and large pinion, should give you better acceleration because of the lighter weight and lower rotating mass. It will be able to spool up faster. However, it will also slow down faster when coasting. The larger gears will take longer to get up to speed but would have the potential to achieve a greater top speed. Also, the car would retain more of that speed for a long period of time while coasting. You could say that the bigger and more flowing the track, you should use the larger spur/pinion combo and the smaller and tighter the track is, you should use the smaller spur/pinion combo.
