I don't think I will be able to use that style bit, since I have a stock lathe and the bit must fit inside the endbell.

Yeah, thats a great place to get them. It is rediculous how much the companies like integy, eagle, and trinity want for their bits!

oh sorry i did not realize. thay have a ton of different styles go to www.mcmaster.com and in the search part type 2344 and look a few pages back and a few pages foward and see if there is one that is like yours. i don't have any experence with that type of lathe so i don't know where to send you to sorry maybe someone else has bought them

Those are round shank end mill cutters. Is that what you guys are using as lathe bits??

Hrmmm... pops is a machinist and has always preached the right tool for the right job and that doesn't look like the right tool to me.

i have been using the ar-4 for a few years now on the mod lathe and it seems to work fine would you have a better solution at that price please let us know

Go to page 2364. I tried to post a link but it didn't work. The AR-4 and AR-L bits are $3.23, thats damn near free. Gonna get a few.

You said the AL-4 and AR-4 doesn't look like what you have been using? Every lathe I have seen (except the ones that dont require taking the endbell off) uses bits that look just like this. I have three and they work great. Even better than the stock carbide bit. I attached a picture.

The link doesn't work. We are talking about the bits on page 2364. They are the AR-4 and AL-4. R for Right, L for left.

yea the ar4 and the al4 are for mod lathes aka for rebuildable motors not for stock lathes aka sealed end bell make shure though our lathes work backward from a normal one so if you cut you comm from right to the left you need a left hand bid because the bit is upside down in our lathes and vice versa for left to right cuts

this is a al-4 bit so you would chuck it up so the cutting section is on the bottom and it would be used on a right to left cut lathe with the motor spinning away fom you

unless i am confused you say these bits are for the sealed endbell type of lathes or for the rebuildable type where you pull the arm out to cut the comm
