I remember reading somewhere that Paul Lemiux tried this for a while, but the balance changed every run, and it didnt really matter whether he did or not so he stopped. IMO If you can get a sedan tire that out of balance that it truly needs it, you did something impressive. If you fell like it just for the heck of it, use non-hardening modelilng clay, or lead tape.

I was wondering this as well. I would think lead tape would be the best thing to use. Ive noticed that my tires seem to be going down in quality. The latest set I bought were poorly glued and they wobble like crazy.

Most of the time an out of true tire means not the tire is at fault but the rim. I reuse rims and give them a check before I glue new tires on. Wobbly or unbalanced rims are discarded.

The amount of weight needed to balance a wheel is so minute, I would rather remove some material than add something that can be flung off at any time in a race. Little droplets of CA glue inside the rim are used if you need to load though. Anyhting else is either too heavy or if reduced to the size such that it is the appropiate mass, it doesn't stick well enough anymore.

hi, inserts will probably shift around inside the tire and throw it off balance quickly.

I didnt know that you were supposed to balance them. I just rotate mine front to rear and thats about it.
