Hi, Sorry I haven't gone through all the posts for the answer but when running foam tires in F1 is it customary to have to true the tires to a given size like with 1/12 or WGT? Not sure if the F1 foams are ready to run right out of the box. Also, what is the life expectancy of the tires? Would I be burning through multiple sets on a race day? The likely surface would be carpet. Just trying to find if the F1 foams are a different animal than with other pan cars.

What motor would you be running? Sometimes the silver cans like a bigger rear tire. For good life a 54mm front is ok, and 55-56 rears. IIRC, 52.4mm gives 4mm ride height on the Tamiya sliding kingpin front end. I would have to check to be 100% on that.

The rears last a long time. The fronts are don't last as long due to the lack of ride height control on the front of Tamiya cars. Other cars may not have this problem, especially the 1/10 pan car based cars (corally, etc)

Hey Dan,

Yep, tried them both. I saw the camber mount for the F104, but NOTHING on the F109's camber or caster mount. BTW, are these parts one and the same? I know what each one does, but I wanted to ensure people were not interchanging the terminology.

You should be looking at the caster mount for F103, a must-have for the F109.

ROBK, thanks for the info. More than likely I'd be running a 17.5 with a SPX. My home track has no F1 class so I would be running the car on practice days for fun. Since I'm not running a really powerful motor it sounds like tire life shouldn't be too bad.

Hey everyone,

I am on the fence about buying a F109 to race with some local guys.

The track is setup on a rubber gym floor in a highschool and most (99.9%) of the guys run touring cars. I would like to run an F1 car just to be different and because I love the look of them.

My question is, what would be a good setup for the rubber floor and would I have a chance racing against the touring cars? It is a run what you brung kinda race and the only thing you win is bragging rights. I would be running a Novak Havoc 2S system with the 10.5 motor (my spare from my Blitz).

Will the F109 be able to run with the touring cars without breaking?

Haha, wait until you wick up the motor. Have you ever seen 2s 17.5 oval cars run?? Now think about the fact that your car probably also weighs less than the pan car...it's gonna be fast. I have run 21.5 with the esc set to like #2 and it was very fast. Enjoy!!

Do the rims from the f103 fit the f109 ?. I was thinking about ordering a F109 from rcmart, & wanted to get the ride rubber tires & parts on one order.

Isn't that the standard diff setup? Looks liek stock diff to me... and benefits are you can tighten/loosen your diff simply by tightening the wheel nut... disadvnatages are you have disassemble your entire diff when you change your tyres...


And yes hippie, f103 tyres fit an f109, jsut make sure you get the right sized bearings for the front (5x8 i believe... where as you'll need 5x10 bearings if you wnated to use the F104 front rims)

I am about 2 seconds away from ordering a F109 from RCmart but I can't find any specs on the size of batteries that can be used. I aready have half a dozen lipo batteries that are 139mm x 46mm x 26mm in size (square hardcase). Will these fit or am I going to have to buy new batteries.

Also, what are the must have spare parts I should order at the same time as when I order the car? I want to make sure I am prepared.

Last question. I will be racing the car on a rubber gym floor with no preparation other than sweeping. Will the stock foam tires work or will I have to get a set of rubber tires?

Can some please tell me how the tires rate from hard to soft ?. I assume Type s stands for soft, but i dont know about the others. I was told soft RR & medium FR would be good, but i need to know which ones to get. Thank you
