Got to run the F109 for the first time today, outdoors on a very cold dirty track.
had problems with the car wandering in a straight line, tried some steering setting on the TX but it made no difference, so I tried a thicker oil in the side damper which made things even worse, so I removed the side damper just to try and it went in a straight line no problem.
Next came a problem with the corners as it appeared that the rear was lifting, so I placed 2x 5g weights on the lower rear pod below the axle line and that kept the rear firmer, so much so that I now have understeer in the corners.
Having now sorted the car with the kit foams (no treatment or additive) I set about running it with some old (about 12yrs) Tamiya Type A Rubbers, and once i got a few laps together to get heat in to them the car was surprisingly stable, if anything with a little too much understeer.
Motor is an unused Kyosho G20 Sealed Can motor as supplied with Kyosho RTR kits running on 31/93 gearing for a 155ft main straight.
Boy was it fun to drive

Kimborough make servo's
Futaba make servo savers
Should I use paper instead?

I think after over 17 years of racing, and 6 Kyosho World Cup British Championship wins behind me I should know what I am on about

I am running a futaba 9550 with a kimborough mid size servo saver and that seem to work a lot better than the stock one. I am running on carpet silver can.

Why don't use Tamiya high torque with F104 HT servo saver?
I guess they are the best kind for F1.

Great race with almost 60 minutes of race time. Finished 2nd.
great result!!!... you were using the stock setup or you made some changes apart from the tires?

i only got in a short test before trying to race it (on a greasy track)
I got as far as 10g below the axle, and was thinking of more.
I am wondering if the rear wing has something to do with the rear end problems on F1 cars, cos most F1 cars have a similar problem, yet 200mm pan cars do not suffer from the problem.

Still looking at ways to put Pro10 wheels on the rear, as then I can run the Corally Silverstars which seemed to work on the pan cars that ran.
(pan cars that did not run them also had rear grip issues)

not had time to test with rolling damper.
All I know is that with kit oil the rear walked, with heavier oil it was a nightmare, so i removed it and it was almost ok.
I also trid 2mm spacers on the side springs, but this made it swap ends to easily coming in to corners.
Someone suggested braking for the corners, but I never brake for corners with the GT car so want to get this F1 car to be the same.

In fact i am just worried what else of shock oil could replace the kit 1 if it finished, in fact it is so few and little.
How about 10W shock oil?
