LOVE THE PAINT SCHEME!!

Different from the usual team livery but yet looks like it could be an actual real F1 team.

Is that a F104 Pro body?

Which wheels and tires do you have on that?

The are pricey without being any better - IMHO.

The only Tamiya parts I use are the 3.5 mm offset knuckles, center shock spring (Touring spring set) and the thrust bearing in the 3Racing Out Tuned diff. I'm thinking about using the F104 rear carbon axel as well - but that's about it.

As for other hop up parts I use the alu caster plate, servo horn, Out tuned diff (nearly a must have for ALL F1 cars) from 3Racing, the CRC mod (CRC spring holder and CRC or AE side springs), Zen king pin (longer than kit pins so I can get height adjustment) and front springs from AE.
Hi InZane
I'm thinking about getting the F109 kit..Do you recommend hop up chassis instead of stock one?
Why the alum caster plate? What is your wheel width of your F1? Thanks

Are you asking for pinion/spur setup?
If so..
You need to do roll out to get the gearing "right" for a 540.
Tire diameter plays into this.
Head over to gearchart (with a .com)
and plug in your info using the pan car option.

With cooling we (guys I race with) are running 47 to 56mm (some push more depending on track layout) .
Indoor carpet we were at the lower side of that number.
Without a fan or heat sink stay low,run a few laps and pull in to check temps.

The new 540j will unglue the magnets or push back the com. when they get too hot and you jar them so be careful .

What do you mean with out tuned diff? The normal aluminium diff from 3Racing or is this a special version? Didn't found anything on 3Racing website.

on the 3racing site, look in the optional parts for the F104. it's listed there. It will fit the F104, F103 and F109. and is a very nice unit.

If you are running 540j motors the diff is a bit of a hassle finding pinions that will work.
It's been said before but I wanted to post it up again.

Found this problem to be alot more annoying at the track than I thought it would be when I ordered the diff.

I'd stay with the kit chassis - it's very good!
The plastic caster plate is prone to break and you can tighten the alu one a lot harder.

Here is My F109 so far. Lots to do still, including that aluminum caster mount. Clean setup! Keeping in old school with the Novak Cyclone

Hi Bob,

thanks for your reply. Didn't look at the F104 section, so I couldn't found it. Looks like the 3Racing version of the F104 diff. Does it work with the kit rear axle?
Because if I remember correctly the F104 has a different rear axle than a F103 respectively F1-09.

I have only mocked mine up, but it looks like you will need to shorten the axle a bit. You might want to get an extra axle just in case you don't likenthe fit of the out adjustable diff.
