The obvious question is why you'd want to use Tamiya hop up parts
The are pricey without being any better - IMHO.
The only Tamiya parts I use are the 3.5 mm offset knuckles, center shock spring (Touring spring set) and the thrust bearing in the 3Racing Out Tuned diff. I'm thinking about using the F104 rear carbon axel as well - but that's about it.
As for other hop up parts I use the alu caster plate, servo horn, Out tuned diff (nearly a must have for ALL F1 cars) from 3Racing, the CRC mod (CRC spring holder and CRC or AE side springs), Zen king pin (longer than kit pins so I can get height adjustment) and front springs from AE.

So I have my car all put together and everything. How do you guys keep your battery from moving around? Do you use tape or anything at all? I have my car set up with a 27t motor, Novak Cyclone TC ESC, Specktrum receiver, and Futaba s9551 servo. I believe it will be a pretty good set up. I also have a good collection of silver can motors. The most efficient setup i could figure out was with the ESC an receiver both on the same side. The receiver weighs close to nothing so this shouldn't be a problem, if I balance the other side out with weights right?

Hi everybody,
first of all greetings from Germany to all you F1 enthusiastics.
I am following this thread for a while and since my F1-09 arrived, I decided to join this forum.
Till now I raced a F103RX on carpet and on asphalt. Since we change to LiPo with the touring cars I was not happy with the way they fit into the F103. Especially with the ball suspension most LiPos are too wide.
So I decided to change to a new chassis which offers better space for LiPos. As a big Tamiya Fan I thought about the F104. But the space for the LiPo is a little bit tight and I don't like the solution for receiver and ESC. A friend of mine got a F1-09 and it made a good impression. And since I can use most of my Tamiya parts and bought one.
Ok, time for my first question:
Does anybody has experience with the spur gears from Kawada?
With these the diff balls are not on one circle but on two. Also the number of diff balls is higher than with the original Tamiya ones. So it should run more smoothly.
Also the spur gears lack molding to keep the ball bearing in the outer diff part in place (I hope you understand what I mean).
Best regards,

Just thought I would post a pic of my f109 . Just got done reconfiguring the layout so this is what I'm going to try this weekend and with the f104 front end on it and the 180mm track width makes it a little twitchy so I think this will makle it more stable with the battery this way.

Has anyone tried the F109 with rubber tires for the F103 instead of the conversion to the F104 tires?

Also i was wondering what bodyshells fit the F109? do Tamiya ones fit and i see Protoform do a couple, do they fit as well?
