What gearing are you guys using with silver can motors? I just got a F109 2nd hand and it came with a 78 48p spur that doesnt fit with the only axle spacers that came with it. I only have the #2 spacers and axle down the spur hits the chassis, axle up and it drags the chassis. Trying to figure out how to gear this darn car.

Post Gearing

Gearing can be a bit of an issue witht he silvercan, ive been trying to find what goes best for me too. This is what i have found.

It depends on the diamater of your tires as to what kind of gearing you go with. Ive been aiming for a starting point of about a 55mm rollout. I have been using TRG tires (55mm Diamater) so i fitted a 74t 48p Spur and put on a 24t pinion for a rough start point. (there isnt much room left with this combo)

If you choose to try gear up from there you may want to look at additional cooling ( fan/s ) to keep the silvercan cool.

Try using a gearchart from gearchart.com to help you a little more. I have found a 74t 48p Spur about the biggest you really want to put on the 109.

Play around and see how you go, thats about the best way to find what works for you.

There is no built in ride height adjustment for the frontend. But I have read on here that you can use longer kingpins and shims.

have some spring questions. I want a harder spring up front, and I bought the tamiya front spring kit. Stock spring seems to be stiffer than any of the Tamiya springs. Is this true, or what. Also, what is the rate of the rear shock spring?
