Default Aftermarket Spur Gear

Greetings,

What is everyone doing on installing a 64 pitch spur gear on the drive hub? I noticed that the aftermarket spur gears have a larger inner diameter than the factory one. Are you just installing with the two screws or are you using some type of support ring to support the spacing difference?

Also for the battery tray I did a simpler mod that uses the factory parts and is easy to do. See here:

Thank you.

hey all, first post here. Ive been a quasi regular at other places though...

I like the pantera body! one of my favorite cars of all time. They were soo low to the ground.

Any news on the best place to get this car from?

tower is at 129.99 still comes out to the same price with the discount adding shipping
amainhobbies is at 124.99
horizonhobbys is at 124.99 but with free shipping
another place was at 114 but the shipping was 13 or 14 dollars.
nitrohouse is 129.99 as well.

thanks guys!

I ordered from Horizon and they were fast and reliable. Nothing used or open box completely factory sealed. 124.99 is hard to beat and to be fair the extra parts included is amazing. I have never seen any kit include so many extra parts. Free shipping was also nice.

Hope that helps.

However, I purchased from rcplanet and it was 97.99 at that time. Earlier this year.

Has anyone tried offset wheels on this car?, specially these ones:

http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/3340/

I'm wondering if I could still use the 3mm and 6mm wheels with the 200mm bodies...

HPI has this wider "low profile" wheel, the LP, with 29, 32 and 35mm width.
I'd like to get one of those but wonder if they'd fit, at least the LP29, that one has 3mm offset.

I'm hoping I can get away with an LP29 3mm-offset in the front and an LP32 6mm-offset in the rear

does anybody have a clue?

thanks

I think the answer will depend on which body you use and how high you mount the body. Too much offset and you'll get rubbing.

Got the body mounted today. I need to get some different wheels with more offset for the rear. Right now the rear is using thicker hexes but it doesn't look exactly correct because this car is supposed to use higher offset wheels on the rear.

Depends also on what body your trying to mount as well. I know the MRS body you can get away with 0mm wheels upfront, and 3mm wheels in the back On my supra and soarer body I use 0mm wheels all around. SO I guess it could depend on the body your trying to fit, 6mm sounds like to much on that car, if its for show yeah, but for racing, I can say it will probably rub, and stick out like a indy car, so to speak.

Thanks for replying, I guess I could get the 3mm wheels and try... maybe I can get a shim in the rear wheel for some extra offset if there's a bit of room.

The body I'll use is an HPI porsche carrera GT, I mail ordered it and it has still not arrived, so I cannot measure it.

Papero: nice work, what brand are the thicker hexes you´re using in the rear?

little confused....Is there a problem using different offset wheels on this chassis ??
PaPeRo...why didn't you use the correct wheels for the DeTomaso ?? http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/33474/
They are the correct style Campagnolo wheels for it. 0 offset / 26mm front and 6mm offset / 31mm rear.

On all my RCGT 200mm bodies (almost always BMW or Mercedes) I use 3mm offset in front and 6mm offset in rear. Hex hubs are standard width all around although for some bodies I might use different hex hubs if available.
190mm bodies would probably use 0 or 3mm

Well I had these laying around so I just mounted them. Also RCGT only allows X-patterns which don't work with the Vintage wheels. Vintage wheels only work witn high profile Vintage tires. Not only that but 31mm wheels/tires are not allowed so you have to use standard 26mm wheels with 6mm offset + 26mm X-patterns for the rear.

Rufus2000:

I'm using O-ring hexes hubs from Integy. They come in SIX sizes...3/3.5/4/4.5/5 and 5.2mm.

Correct. So are you going to race this body in rcgt ? Kinda figured you were making a display car only. That bod sure is nice. When I get my Pantera done I'll post it on the VTA thread. I'll use those correct wheels but probably paint them a brushed silver instead of the chrome.

Liking what I'm seeing about the JL10. Will definitely recommend it as a chassis choice to new drivers in our club. Guess I'll have to go ahead and get one myself just so I can say it works !!

I honestly haven't decided whether or not I'll be racing this particular body, I may race another body but I wanted to get everything legal just in case I decide to race this same body type but with a different color scheme in the future.

As for the JL10 it definitely has its quarks but I've been able to fix most of them and the chassis isn't so expensive and performs well stock so I'm happy with it. I might get another one to mount another style body sometime later. My next project is actually going to be a graphite chassid Sprint 2 but I haven't decide which body to use for that car yet.
