Penguin Prototype M18 chassis
 

Currently in development is the P7500 XRay M18 chassis set. We do not have much information regarding this chassis at the moment as it s about ready to be placed in the hands of our drivers. What we have determined is that the chassis set will include Upper and Lower chassis plates with an integrated 180 size graphite motor plate. Optional peices will include a 300 motor plate (shown in pictures) and a 400 upgrade kit. We are also working on a possible 140mm conversion for this car. We are aiming for the basic chassis set to retail for around $50.00-$60.00 with the 140 conversion Chassis approx $10.00 more.

That looks neat....but a 6 cell chassis would be even neater!!:D :D

that chassis is six cells ready already
just need the option motor mount that keeps the motor on top of the shaft~

wouldnt that setup make the car's CG a bit TOO high?

i think they already have the 300 size motor on the prototype chassis in the pics above:)

since the motor is on the upper deck u can run 6 cell saddle packs like on the Xray evo 2 of 414M. Also, it would be easy to balance.

I think it will make it even stable, specially if you use the saddle pack battery configuration 3/3. That will put an even weight distribution and probably get 50/50 front-rear weight ratio.I cant wait to get hold of this chassis knowing it is coming from a refutable company.:nod: :nod: :nod: :nod:

Just to answer a few questions...
 

The pictures seen in this thread are of the version 1 prototype.. version 2 will be the first version that will undergo physical testing on the track as we found some errors that we made in this car, though the basic layout will be the same.

the motor shown is a Speed 300 in the vertical posistion, the stock chassis set will come with a 180 motor plate (undecided which version) , there will be optional plates for side or vertical mounting of a 180 or 300, there will also be a Speed 400 upgrade kit that will include a motor mount and new upper deck.

The upper motor position allows better distribution of the weight of the car but does raise the CG slightly. We belive that the better balancing of the batteries and their weight will compensate for the slight raise in the CG leading to a car that overall has better handling. Only track testing will tell us this for sure.

Granted track testing takes a little while in order to test different options and ideas so the chassis is still a bit of the way out. We do not like to do the typical aftermarket manufacturer thing of jumping on an idea and then bringing it out without testing or copying an existing part in graphite. We wish to have something that we know will give the purchaser great value and use in addition to added performance.

This can be seen in the P3500's for the HPI micro and also in our Prototype TC3 chassis that just won the ROAR Region 3 Championships in two classes. The TC3 chassis is still a few months out as well in it's developmement cycle as even though it is now a proven winner. it is not where we want it to be overall. Infact the version that won the ROAR races was already out of date when it won.
