Car needs a nudge to get going...
I have a Tamiya TA05 chassis, with a Losi Excelorin sensored esc and 3.5T brushless motor.
The problem is that the car wont take off without a nudge, even holding it in the air, most of the time I need to rotate the driveline a little to get the motor to spin under its own power.
My question is, has anyone experienced the same thing?
Heres the history..
A couple of months back, I cooked a sensored Excellorin ESC, it was replaced under warranty, and the new one seems to be having the issues above.
Assuming it was anything but the ESC (because it was a brand new warranty replacment), I first of all blamed the drive line being bent. So I stripped the car and checked re-greased everything and assembeled, it all rotated well.
Problem still exists, so I replaced the motor and sensor wire with a brand new identical 3.5T Losi excelorin. Still the same problem.
Tried a new battery (original was an 11.1v lipo) this time a 7.4v lipo. Still got a problem.
Tried a new steering servo, nope, try again.
Different receiver (Spektrum DX3S and Spektrum telemetry receiver), nup.
Then decided, the chassis must be doing some strange things. It has had a pretty hard life and I wanted to switch to belt drive, so I transfered everything into a brand new Tamiya TA05 (built today).
Tomorrow morning im going to wire up another new Losi ESC and see if the problem is still there. If its fixed, then take it back to the shop for another 4 week wait for warranty. Lucky I bought it from a local shop rather than online, a mate of mine waited 10 months for Horizon to replace the Losi esc he bought on ebay.
I have a couple of Losi Excelorin ESC's in other cars (AE B44 and Kyosho ZX5), and they have worked without fault and taken a beating, I have setup the ESC with both USB interface and program card. What im trying to say, I have had a fair bit of experience with the ESC, and I know the programming well, so its not a programming issue.
So yeah, sorry for the novel! But I was curious to know if anyone has experienced anything similar, or perhaps someone can expand on what could be causing this?
Is the ESC unable to deliver the required power to start to rotor? Is the sensor system screwed?
