I don't think there is any comparison between the new F10 and the old Grpahite Super F1...that car used 10th scale pan car wheels/foam and the Tamiya used its own F1 style wheels with non exotic foam. The Super F1 was basically a 1/10th pan car narrow enough for an F1 body....both Tamiya and Kyosho had a different approach.
The new F10 is much closer to what the original F103 and the old Kyoshos were. That being said the new F10 once hopped up a little should be able to hang (with foams) with the F103-104 cars...maybe
but it no way will it be faster. I think this should all be great for F1 RC racing!

I know you think you know better. I can only say what I raced and what the outcome was at the (Florida)state races- local races and the one national I raced them in. Actually the national there was no HPI cars (out yet) just Tamiya and one Kyosho.
The narrow pan car theroy is wrong as they were F1's built to the 1/10th scale rather than Tamiya. The foams I used were 1/12th tires( purple fronts and pink rears) I got from the orginal BSR tire company that had not be mounted or trued.We also lowered the frontends and had adjustable ride height in the back.
Oh yes If I was to get an F1 now I'd get the Corally version (I forgot they made one). This is the newer version .
I'd race them now with the 3.7 lipo and a 17.5 motor.

I dont know if this has been asked before but will the Tamiya F1 rims work on the new HPI F1 car?

Man, these "vs." threads always bug me.
Where does the "vs." part come in other than giving people something...anything....to argue about.
Pick a car, which ever one you like best(which is all that should matter), then go race it...work out speed/handling differences at the track with the others running the class.
Unless you live in Japan, odds are that if you can get enough people together to run a good F1 class, that your all likely running the same car anyway. Really, what are the odds that any local track is going to have to work out the details of 3 F104, 3 F10, and 3 Corally F1 cars all trying to race together?
Its more likely that a couple people will show up with one of those cars, and anyone else wanting to race will probably pick up the same car. Both to get help with set up and share parts.
Threads like this based on a small class like F1 are moot from the moment they're created.

Your correct. All Tamiya did was re-issue the old car with a few updated and old option parts.It was a fun class to race back then. The new Corally would would be probably the best out of the box for racing. Since I've not seen the new HPI I can't say much on that one.There old frontends were a little weak.
Whatever the racers get- go out and have some fun with them. Maybe this time they be around for more than they were before.
For the guy asking about the rims- standard american 1/12th or 1/10th rims can work. Front wheel bearings is the difference.The rear tires and diff can be tricky.

My point was that the HPI Super F1 was never intended to be equal in any way to the F103. The F103 had an FRP chassis and t-plate...very simple 0-ring rear suspension and a very basic front suspension...along with Tamiya designed wheels and foam. If you were using 1/12th scale foam that was a mod...definately not what Tamiya was thinking of.

Core that first HPI car had a weak frontend from what I remember( to much flex). Everyone down here in Florida did the 1/12th tires. Composite Craft made a special Graphite chassis for the Tamiya (got a new one still in the bag). There was the CRC version that used the Tamiya frontend and the CRC rearend( have two used chassis). Ive got my Tamiya F103 that has an Associated style t bar for there car as I'm looking at my retired F103.All these versions were legal to race.I also remember another company from Virginia that made an F1 chassis similar to CRC.

Been following this thread with interest for a while. Got the link from a local forum here in Texas.
Put a HPI F10 on B.O. with Tower this morning. I'll field it as a 4cell car.
I really like that it's a kit. Been a long time since I've done a NIB RC. Been mostly fabrication in my own shop for the cars I race now.
Plenty of steel can motors, round cells, and BR ESCs lying around unused in my shop. Do the initial set-up using what I have. Kinda wait-and-see if and how a spec series will flesh out before I spend any $$ on a BL / 1s LiPo package.

All I know is a buddy of mine is gettin a HPI and I can't wait to smoke him with my Pro. With my Indy wing as my stinger, he aint gonna be able to steal my line. LOL.
