I'd say the Thunder Power and SMC 40C packs are among the kings of lipos right now.

There's so much to read.

But 2c 5000+ 40c's is what you might want.

Any 40c pack really. Just make sure it has the connectors on it you want to use, and look for something class appropriate.
EX: If you're just running 17.5 or 13.5, you won't need a 5000mAh pack, and might want to go with a cheaper 3200 pack.
BUT, if you're running mod motors, you might need that extra capacity.

I read somewhere C rating don't matter at all. Your lap times won't change between a 5000mah 40C and a 5000mah 25C

Buy whatever you can afford with highest C rate just in case you will blame on low C rate battery causes you lose in a race. I have heard the same thing, I do believe there is difference between 40C and 20C but not MUCH. I am using 3600mah 20C pack and am happy with the performance in the race.

I'd like to say that any Lipo Sure as hell beats a 6 or 8c Nimh pack. I don't see much of a difference between my IP 3800 packs in 25c and 35c. You'd like the think the average racer can be reasonably quick and more importantly have fun with a 20 or 25c pack and not have to try and keep up with the jones'. Unfortunately the fast guys are always going to be using the biggest and best of everything in order to stay fast and beat you.

The fast guys are going to beat you because they are more experienced or skilled, not because of lipos. There are no "team" lipo packs like with sub-c's. A better setup on the car will beat the best battery any day of the week.

Because the whole production run that we sent to not only the drivers, but to the consumers was incredibly good. Listen, you guys can blame batteries all day long for not winning, but I'm telling you right now....we send our team guys random packs. Any one of our team drivers would gladly exchange their pack for a brand new off the shelf identical pack if you would offer to trade them. The sooner you realize that the best drivers are that way because of talent and not equipment, the sooner we can put this rumor to rest. This isn't the 90's with SL date codes on Sanyo SCE's.
