How are people keeping the flat bottomed packs in their RC12R5? The SMC pack has bumps on the bottom to fir the battery slots. I was thinking of a Manutech brass tray but that may add too much weight.

In my 12r5 I cut sections of sheet lexan into the shape of the chassis' battery cut outs. Then I servo tape the lexan pieces to the flat bottom of the battery. I've done the same in my sedans and never had one slide out. I mount my 1 cell SMC packs this way with the flat section down and it's working great.

Just going to echo what Kenny said. Pack ran awesome. Did not fall off much. Very consistent feel throughout.

I have not waded through the dozens of pages re 1s lipo 12th, but pretty much all of it i have seen is discussing spec 12th, has anyone done any mod testing?

In Australia, we only have a small 12th contingent all running mod outdoors. On 4 cell 5.5 -7.5 is a normal motor, so would say a 1S lipo and a 3.5 be the same pace? Would you make run time?

Besercoe,

I can't speak for everyone but I do know that at least one Pro would like to slow the mod class down some. This Pro visited my LHS track (which is now closed) and this was several years ago and man his car was wicked fast. Only the very best can controll their cars on our (US) smallish indoor tracks. I feel a 5.0 BL with these new 5000 mah packs might work well for us for mod. Now if you guys are running outside on big tracks then you might need more ponies. Let is know how it goes if you test it. This doesn't really answer your question though, I know.

What motor is that, is that Orange anodizing? Looks like a Duo but what label is that?

tony carrubba of POWER PUSH also has these same 1cell batterys available. Good guy. Good service. If you want the little lipos for your pancar, Tony can hook you up.

It's just a 17.5 Duo from Team Scream Racing (http://teamscreamracing.com/). The iphone camera in bad lighting doesn't always show the correct colors.

Wish they was racing 13.5 around here but they decided to keep the current motors they had and be a bit slower than NiMh. I think with the new battery technology it maybe about equal on the track vs NiMh so that's why I'm trying it out. Most people lost about .2-3 tenths when moving to the SMC LIPO earlier this year vs NiMh. Early reports on this new Thunderpower pack is it's .1-3 tenths faster than the SMC. If it proves to be a huge disadvantage I'm buying a few more NiMh to finish the rest of the points season.
