i received this 1/12 scale carpet car on a trade. it says speedmerchant on the bottom of chassis, and fantom on the very back of the rearend. has a futaba 3pk 75mhz fm radio with pcm 1024 rx, and tekin g12cIII electronic speed control. looks like 3 4cell 3300gp nimh batt packs, a cooling fan, and trinity monster motor as well as a epic 27?? maybe. and the car has a kisbey motor on it. is this stuff any count, competitive or worth anything? is this a oval or road course car? i posted some pics hopefully it helps. thanks for any info.

It's a Speedmerchant. Not sure which particular version. Drop in some new running gear and you have a very competitive car.

thanks for your reply. by running gear do you mean batteries and motor? if so what batteries and motor do you suggest?

It looks like a REV 3 :http://www.teamspeedmerchant.com/cars/rev3/rev3.html

speedmerchant cars are for sure among the "bestest" cars ever. Keep it.

Go hang out with some on road guys on a race night. Your motor and batteries might not be in that bad of shape. See if you can get someone to check out your equipment. Usually you can find someone who is more than happy to help someone into the class.

12th scale is probably the class in which motor/batts are the "least" important (I mean at club level...).

Tires and above all DRIVING are the key to fast laps with these cars. Cut the commutator of the motor, balance your batts and it will probably be already faster than your fingers:sneaky:...

To me there is absolutely no need of a brushless equipment there... Have fun !

If you don't mind me asking what did you trade for it.

i had some karting stuff that i sold a guy, he used to be into rc racing and had this left over so i took for a partial trade. mainly i wanted the futaba 3pk.

I still think those are killer radios. I would put the spektrum box in it but other than that. Its a great set up either way.
