75mhz or 27 mhz?

75mhz or 27 mhz?
what are the pros and cons of each?

27 - pro :has wider band spacing (.05mhz) vs .02mhz for 75 between channels. means you're less likely to get radio hits from poorly tuned radios.
con: only 6 'legal' (non-HAM) channels on that band. too many people on that band, and you're gonna be stuck waiting for a frequency clip all the time.
75 - pro: 30 channels means you're more likely to have an open frequency clip.
con: narrower bandwidth spacing (hardly ever an issue though)
best solution is 75 band synthed'. been running this setup for about 6-8 months, will never go back.

I agree totally with disaster999!! If you want the absolute best signal with no glitches, you want 40mhz or 27. I run 27mhz with a synthasized module on my M8.... Been pretty good to me. I made the transisition this year to 27 from 75, because of all the famous airtronics or should i say glitronics hits. I havent had one since I swithed!!

with the sysnthesized 27 mhz, how many bands are available?

Aku-Man, only in the U.S. the 6 channels are allowed at sanction events.

At my track nobody uses 27 so you will probably not have any glithces.

As far as 27mhz being less glitch prone, that my friends is pure horsecrap!! I have been racing for a very long time and the most important thing as far as I'm concerned is good transmitter batteries. Running 75mhz gives you a much larger selection of frequencies and less of a chance of getting hit or "glitching". As far as batteries go I also gave up on NICD transmitter batteries long ago in favor of alkaline, take a close look at them, last time I looked they put out 1.5 volts per cell vs 1.2 volts per cell for NICD, and if you don't forget to turn your transmitter off they last for months.

maybe so... but personally, i prefer 27 in terms of glitch free operation, the only problem, as we all know, is the limited number of bands, can't dispute that... but to glitch free operation, i guess everyone has their own experiences to look upon to.

if 40 mhz is an illegal band, where can you get crystals?
