Default tc4 steering

I picked up a tc4 off of eBay and am having some trouble with the steering setup. The car will consistently pull to one side, but it will pull both to the left and right. The steering servo doesn't seem to recenter. You have to counter steer to correct the pull even on a straight. There's little slop in the linkage, and the serve seems to be working fine. I also increased the toe in on the fron tto try to make it more stable. Any ideas?

either something is binding in your suspension or your servo is bad and it don't center itself.

I pulled the linkage off the servo, and it moves freely. The strange thing is that if you look at it on a table and steer, it appears to recenter. The steering problem is really noticable if you gun it and have to counter steer.

Does it pull to one side after you turn to that one side..
Like its not centering correctly?

I had this problem when i installed my new caster blocks. I Installed the block carrier bushings incorrectly, so the steering was tight.

Here is the TC4 Manual, in case your not sure where they belong and how to install them correctly.

I set additional toe in to try to make it more stable, and camber is set to 1 deg all around.

I'll have to check the caster blocks and bushings. I never got that far. It wouldn't surprise me to find out something wasn't installed properly. I've been fixing a sloppy build since I got this thing.

Yea.. Its easy to put them in wrong.. The lip needs to be inside and touching the steering hubblock..

Agreed... make sure the caster blocks are on the correct side and the bushings are inserted correctly, also unhook the servo and move the wheels left to right to see if it is loose or tight. If it is tight then there is something binding, if it is free then my guess would be that it is your servo. Goodluck, the TC4 is a durable car.

Yea, good idea.. That should belp narrow it down quicker.

I love my TC4. If you ever go bushless... I recommend steel outdrives and the heavy duty CVD's!!!

A car with negative caster (king pin line tilting forward) will be hard to keep on a straight line -- if not impossible.

If the caster blocks are flopped left to right, you could have a negative setting.

If the caster is ok (positive), your problem is likely the servo.

I'm actually looking at an LRP Sphere Competition esc right now with 2 orion motors. This will be my first brushless setup that isn't a Mamba Max. First things first though, I've gotta get this thing to track straight first!
