Getting a Digital Servo soon, I'm currently looking at these two servos. Lots of people I talk to say JR are better, but how?
I'm planning to put one on a offroad electric buggy. Any Comments?

I've never used JR servos....but I do have a couple of 9451....they are very good! When coupled with the Futaba HRS they are extremely good!

I am comparing this to other servos which I use which are mainly KO 2143 and 2343 and Futaba 9550.

I hope you post the comparison between 9451 and 2343 soon.
I'm more interested in it's centering performance coz i do own
a 2343 (planning to buy a 9451). If possible, compare the deadzone of both servos and does it centers perfectly with and
without load (hmm, it seems pointless testing it without load ). Thanks.

Hi,

I use JR Z8450 in my Touring cars and in my B4 and they works great. I use a Futaba 3PK with HRS receiver and everything works fine.

I've used JR servos exclusively for all my cars...8 years and not 1 problem....I also noticed they are usually a little more reasonable price wise than Futaba for the same performance.

is use the JR , they are super smooth , they are both great , just the JR seems to move more freely

from what i heard is that JR sucks and unreliable...and seriously way too over priced! you basically could get a servo that just as good at a way lower price!

Hi,

I don't have tried the Futaba, but i'm sur that is a good servo. Both are great, i start with Jr and stay with this one, i'm happy.

But for the price difference that you notice, i should try the Futaba.

Both the 9451 and 2343 centre and hold perfectly on a 1/10 GP car. The 9451 is marginally slower when driving the actual car but it is very acceptable. However, I have switched the servo config on my GPs so I have the 2343 on the steering and 9451 on the throttle, but that is not because of any limitations on the servos.....The 9451 has a better price than the 2343 in Hong Kong. The 9451 came with my 3PK....

I have used both and like both. I have even run them in the same car at different times. The JR will work with HRS. It mostly comes down to how much you want to spend. I don't have long term results on my Futaba servo but I've had my 8450 for over two years now without any trouble. If JR sucks, as Disaster says, I must have been lucky with my servo!!

If nothing else you could go with Futaba, that way all your servo arms are the same.

great, you made my decision much easier. I'll just stick to the futaba and I can share the spare gears just in case one brakes.

you gotta love these forums! I think 1/2 of the time, when someone asks if something is good, 1/2 of the response is 'I've heard'... that's not adding much to the conversation is it?

anyhow, having USED both Futaba and JR servos, both companies make great high end servos. I picked up JR's digital servos when they first came out, and all 4 of them are still good as new. If price is no budget, a great servo RC car guys don't seem to use is JR 8700G. About 70oz and .05sec! at 6V. JR's site only mentions 4.8v performance, but package comes with 6V specs. Best servo I've ever used for TC/Buggy steering. Even better than DS8417 or Fut S9450 which were my favorites.

On a side note, if JR sucked so bad as some have said, helicopter guys wouldn't be caught dead using JR servos (used by most of 'top' heli guys). If you got $2000 rig up in the air, last thing you want is servo failuer, especially with tail control. The giro auto corrects via using all the servos, making thousands of minor adjustments a minute. These guys go through servos LOT more than car guys. Not from hitting walls, just frying them out from usage.

I have a Z8450 and the Z8550 and both have been flawless. Prior to going digital, I was using the 4735. JR servos are some of the best available.
