What would be a good motor and esc for the car that will not break the bank or be cheap

This is a nice motor if you are running 17.5.

No, I was talking about the gear diff, check out all the setups here: http://www.petitrc.com/reglages/tami...miyaTRF417.htm They don't have anything very new for the TA05v2, but the 417 has LOTS of setups making use of the gear diff(& because I just bought a 417 myself, I started reading up on them to get an idea of how I wanted to set mine up). I've also experimented with one in my old 416(the Spec-R one), & I think the last time I used it, I settled on using something like 80wt shock oil in it(which I think is something close to 800-900cst oil)....

Thanks for that info Bob.
Saw a couple setups with 2000 and that's the lightest I have. Going to give it a try and order some 1000. Am I correct in my thinking that a heavier fluid in the rear could create a push mid to exit of corner.

Not 100% sure, but my thinking on it is with thicker oil, the diff action will be slower, & I would think in certain situations, it might create more tire scrub in a corner(which I would think would create more of an oversteer issue, rather than make it push, but again, I'm not really the expert on this, just coming to terms with them myself)....

I believe you are correct about thicker oil. I read somewhere that the team guys w/the 417 were running either a spool in front or 500,000 to 300,000 wt w/gear diff. and 700 wt to 1000wt in the rear gear diff. but that is always fluid depending up the latest developments and track conditions.

I worked hard on my TA05 and I fixed the front drive area.
I did have a front one-way installed but it didnt prove useful outside.
So i went back to a standard diff in the front.

The heavier the oil, the less diff action at that end of the car. (think spool vs. diff). Oil in the front helps with turn in and mid corner vs. spool. Oil in the rear helps with rotation mid corner and exit.

I current run 120K in the front and 1000K in the rear. I based my setup off Jilles from Snowbirds last year for the 417. Almost identical settings to start with small adjustments to upper links for my home track. I dropped the oil in the front for more turn in since our track is shorter and has more hairpins. Check the rear often, even with good seals my diff leaks down a little every couple race days, just fact of the lighter oil.

I've been running my V2 for a while now. Started with the tub and ran it that way in mod at the Snowbirds last year. Very predictable and fun actually. Not super fast but I could get around the track without destroying the car or holding up traffic. Added the Exotek chassis a few months ago and the car got even better. I leave the top deck screws for the motor mount out for flex.

Default TA05 Advice

I recently bought a used TA05 verII with the upgrade package. I have been going through the car and found some issues. I am not sure if they are a big deal or not....

First, the chassis seems tweaked. The front left side of the chassis does not lay flat. I tried loosing up everything but it is still the same. Should I get a new tub or is this just what it is?

Second, the rockers for the front ifs shocks seem to have different amounts of movement. The passenger side rocker moves only about 3/4 the amount as the left side.

Family obligations and work will keep me away from the track the next few weekends, so if I need to order stuff, just want to get it done.

My chassis is tweaked as well.
I don't know what to tell you about the rocker movement but mine are even.

The rockers may be imagination...... I think I am going to just put it out on the track and see how it runs.

Are all the chassis like that?

Just make sure your droop is even and the tweak shouldn't make a difference. As far as the rockers, I would take all the turnbuckles off and use a caliper to make sure they are even.

that's what I was doing when I notice the other issues.

I think it will be okay. One rocker seems like it still has more motion, but once every thing was put back to together I don't think it will make a difference. Can't wait to get the car out and run it.

Does anyone have an option about the tamiya one way on carpet?
