yes, the plastic shocks can still be tuned with pistons...All of tamiya shocks have always been said to be outstandings - you just get the bling factor with the TRF (plus threaded adjusted, super smooth inners)...but anything (aside from the threaded adjusters) for the TRF shocks can be added to the plastic body shocks...just make sure they are the black plastic, not the see thru stuff - that plastic is much more brittle
Of course, I'm still around. Where else would I be? A simple "yes" with some part numbers would've done the trick, though. I used to own a TRF 415, remember? I know about the quality of TRF shocks, my friend.

didn't mean anything by my post...just haven't seen you post outside blue diamond's thread in a while just joking with ya....

but here you go.

53572 - TRF Damper Piston (2hole)
53573 - TRF Damper Piston (3hole)
53574 - TRF Damper Rod Guide/O-ring (only o-ring is usable with the plastic shocks)
53850 - TRF Damper Titanium Piston Rod
53577 - urethane bushing for bladder
53576 - oil seal (not sure if this is special to the TRF shocks or same as the standard - I know the TRF's is black and I've seen some green ones for the plastic shocks)

this mean you're going to run the TCS at Jackson in July?

Any recommendations for new brushless engine and esc combo?
I rather get a nice one and spend a little money then buy a cheap one and have to replace it shortly. I plan on Racing not drifting.
For and inexpensive turn around to go brushless, I would suggest the SpeedPassion Cirtix (ESC) with the 17.5, 21.5 or 25.5 Sportsman Brushless Combo. This esc is also allowed to be used in the VTA class. The 17.5 is good for 17.5 sedan and the 21.5 would also be good for running USGT. Usually you can find these combos for $90 to $110.

Exclamation SpeedTech Grand Club Race!

FYI,
Probably the biggest club race here in So.Cal. this past weekend and everything from HPI, Associated, X-ray, Tamiya 417X, exotek kits and everything in between all running full race composite chassis and a TA05-V2 TQ's in 13.5 blinky. I guess I should have ran mine but I thought I couldn't hang with the full race chassis! Next, race baby!
Just my 2$

Thought you guys might find this interesting.

This was last weekend at our Grand Club Race II at the Tamiya track. Duy (pronounced Du-ey) was the TQ in 13.5 expert class and is the all pink car---a minimally hopped up TA05v1 against double deck cars such as Xrays, AE TC6s, TRF417s etc.. He was hit at the start but kept up very well until the motor fried. All in all, very impressive performance for the TA05v1!

I remember reading somewhere about modding a 417 pulley I believe to utilize 16 balls, instead of 8. I have searched this thread, but cannot find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm running a TA05 version 2 and just got a brushless 17.5 system for it and wondering what some good gearing is to keep the temps down but still have some punch? I'm going to run it at the Tamiya track in Aliso Viejo. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Sorry, I am somewhat a rookie. What is fdr? You're from Aliso, you must go to the Tamiya track. Any gearing help from you would helpful as that is where I am planning to run.
