What do you want to do with it? Bash in the street or race?

If you just want to bash, the HPI is perfect and you'd ruin the Tamiyas.

If you want to race, the prices will be equalized once you add the necessary upgrades to the HPI so pick whichever you like. There's no arguing with Tamiya's F1 performance, but I'm sure the HPI will be more than capable as well once it's all figured out.

From what I saw down at the Tamiya track today--the F103's are still the easiest to set up and make work. The guys with the 104's are going good-- but I think unless someone shows up tomorrow with great 104's---the 103's will still be the dominant car.
I've got a 103--with the 104 motor pod and aluminum front a arms that allow you to adjust caster into the car--and it handled great!! Easy to drive--but the gearing was WAY too tall. So I'll re-gear--and try it again.

Hi guys,

I was at Tamiya USA track for Ultimate F1 Race (Today was the open practice day) and ran the Formula Ten with some option parts.

My F10 with rubber tires ran excellent whole day today despite the hot weather. I could even keep up with some F103/F104 w/foam tires.
Tomorrow will be the race day! I will post here again after the racing tomorrow.

F10 is awesome!!!

I ran option tires which has softer compound in the morning but i used kit stock tires all way around after the track got hot.

Good to hear the hpi car can run and showed up at the race. keep us posted. This cars ad was what got my attention for F1 since I left racing in
'95. I now have a 15th anny, but Im looking at all of them.

Yeah good to know. They have about 30 F1 that might show up Wednesday night. LHS says it's blowing up like the slashes did. We had 67 trucks there one night with over 40 average. A lot of those guys walked out of the store with the F103's and a few F104. They just got the F10 in so he didn't know too much about them. I prefer not to bash since money is tight these days Good luck today & keep us posted.

I ordered an HPI F-1 car because I figured it can't be too bad from HPI's reputation. Good to hear it ran with the Tamiya cars. I'll be working on both once I get the kit together!! I figured I'd make one a Brushless setup and keep the other for the Tamiya F-1 races! I was there on Sat for a short time--I missed seeing your car!!

Hi guys,

I just came back from the track.
What a day of racing today!! It was truly a day of F1. So many people showed up and all were nice looking formula one cars. I just hope we will have this kind of great event every month.

Anyways, the f10 ran great again today!! After three rounds of qualifier i qualified 2nd and finished 2nd overall. I ran against mostly Tamiya F103 and a few other brand cars so it was like my F10 vs Tamiya 103. In the last main race, my F10 hit fastest laptime time on the day in rubber tire class too.

The F10 had some option parts below listed but it was almost box stock car.

Also I recommend you to have HB 12x front hard springs if you run with rubber tires. What I had on my car was

#61699 Front Spring (Hard/0.55mm/5Coils)

with those hard springs, the car turn in crispier and was also more stable overall. Those are highly recommended.

Lastly, i will leave my gearing for the 17.5 brushless motor I ran today.
95 spur gear/29 pinion so it was 3.275. The track was kind of big (Tamiya USA) but I think it would be a good starting point to find right gearing for your local race track.

WOW That's AWSOME!!! Great to hear the car performed soo well--and you must have driven great too!! Thanks for posting your changes / upgrades to the car as well. I'll get mine next week--looking forward to getting it on the track!!

Sorry if this has already been asked, but are there any foams available that fit up to this car? Or better yet, does the stock rubber tire hook up on carpet?

There are pictures from a hobby show showing foam tire rims, so i assume they plan to release them at some point.

well i just confirmed that the f201 wheels will fit the hpi formula ten tires. its like the knock off version, perfect fit.
