I actually let my gf's little brother race it whenever he comes out to OC Circuit. I like the car and how it handles, but for the life of me I can't keep the left rear ball cup to stay on . And the motor (brushed 27t) gets extremely hot while only being geared at a 6.8, I'm thinking there's got to be a bind in the drivetrain due to the car sitting on my carpet floor for the last 2 years.

Reminded me at the next Fusion race and I'll give you an RPM ball cup. I tried using one of these and it was to tight. Maybe you should try one and see what happens.

As for the drive train, try removing the shims from the out-drives if they are the plastic ones. Also remove at least one shim from both front and rear input shafts. My drive train was way to tight if set-up to stock specs. let me know what happens

Thank you Russ, sounds good and I'll definitely try that. The car is great, very popular car too when I started racing circa '99-'00 I shouldve grabbed one back then

Marvin,
Sounds great would very much like to share some notes / setups any time. I think my setup is good but it never hurts to compare notes and try to make things a little better.

Even though I had to change my gear ratio in my last race from a 3.5 to 6.5 (ate a spur gear). I did feel that my car was handling pretty good it was just way too slow. I was going to try something new for my next race. Plus a new pinion to bring my ratio to 4.0.

Thanks

Hey russ let me know how the gear ratio in your car works. im running my TC4 & am using a 6.85 on a stock brushed motor & it hauls thru the straights, but it does drop off when it gets hot cause i dont have a fan on it right now. Good luck to u at fusion russ. i wont be running cause i have a couple of things to take care of, but have fun.

Marvin,
The 3.55 ratio 64 pitch that I was using worked great except for I had no or very little brakes for some reason. When I switched to 48 pitch 6.5 ratio I had all the brakes in the world. So I ordered an 45t 48 pitch pinion which was the largest 48 pitch pinion that I found to go with my 72t spur to make an 4.0 ratio in 48 pitch. I can also use a 69t spur to make an 3.83 ratio if I need a little more speed. I thought that I would try the 4.0 and see what happens and can always change to 3.83 if I need to.

Wouldnt 6.85 with a brushed motor be a little over geared?

Hmm well i felt the car has awesome power. ask joe i was at wcrcr & was practicing with him & i was a bit faster than his car on the straights (not trying to put his car down to brag at all here) but thats what i saw & im using a 8 yr old brushed motor lol, then again im running MB racing technology horsepower lol. so i guess im lucky lol. i'd like to see your car in action. u should come down to west coast its a huge place lots of traction & very fun.

Would very much like to if I ever get a Saturday off. My problem is I work on Saturdays. I would have a few different indoor places I could race at if I had Saturdays off. But for now I enjoy having Sundays and Mondays off.

You can find TC3 parts at Tower Hobbies, Stormer Hobbies and also GS hobby has some at discounted prices right now.

Try those, I'm sure there are others also.
