Red > You only have to remove the shield once, you dont take them off and then put them back on. Just like everyone said, put the bearing without the seal on the inside and the seal on the outside
If the seals are on, the oil wil go through just like the motor spray does. Just let it soak in.
The stuff i use to clean the bearings is Liquid Wrench w/ Teflon. Doesnt smell as bad as Motor Spray and i think does a better job. i use the same techniqe as TP, blast them, make sure they turn, but i do soak them overnight no matter what, dry and re-lube.
TP > I may get brave today and remove the shields

2 Questions....
For the bearings in the transmission, is their a sheild? I looked but just cant seem to find one. this is the one with the rubber seal.
Also, when you are rebuilding your shocks, do you clean shocks with anything, motor spary? Or just pour out the old oil and add in the new....
thanks....

When I rebuild shocks I remove the old oil and put a shot of motor cleaner to remove the possible dirt on the inner chamber and put new oil.

Tx TP
OK then stock it is cheaper and lighter, well a big purchase is on the horizon, hope fully they will get the integy 16x5 with P/S soon.
Still unsure on getting the whole graphite component kit or just the chassis. Any inputs?
Also getting threaded shocks.
Also what all do I need to upgrade to the lite diffs I heard not all the parts/kit are needed but I am unsure of the conditions of my diff balls. Part numbers willl help a lot here. And not all parts "need" to be ae I will get what works best.
Also on the list is the irs input shafts.
Any other suggestions to a racer model especially in the way of lightening the drive train
And who knows maybe some eye candy like blue screws and integy drive cups.

Bearings
With all the talk of bearings I have another ?
How much better are the teflon bearings? For just a regular driver is it worth the $120?
I also heard dynamite makes a set that are quite reasonbly priced.

buda,
regardless of what kind of driver you are, you'll benefit from good bearings and i'm sure you can get 'em for less than $120. i use boca bearings in all of my cars, they are just about 100% maintenance free. for the tc-3, they run about $80-$90 bucks (this also includes the steering rack bearings).
