OK all you TC3 gurus, what's wrong with this picture?

I've been told everything from it's a oneway from an NTC3, to I need different outdrive bearings (with a larger ID to fit over the oneway bearings) to I have an 'old' diff housing and the newer ones are wider!

What gives?

Cheers,
Scotty P.

It is a Nitro part, not electric.

To use a one way in a TC3 you need the bearings that fit - they are not the same as the standard outdrive bearings.

More conflicting opinions!

It is a Nitro part, not electric.
According to AE's web site, the part number for TC3, NTC3 and TC4 oneway is the same. Did they change at some point?

So you're saying the bearing need to fit OVER the one-way bearings that protrude from the housing? That would make sense. Anyone have the size so I can order some?

push the bearings all the way on
Pure genius... whay didn't I think of that!

You need the special metric bearings for the one way (standard diff bearings ID is too small). My mistake, the diff housings are the same, it is the outdrives that are different between the nitro and electric.

the original TC3 one-ways fit the stock bearings in the diffs.

the Heavy Duty one-way(Yokomo) takes bearing with a larger I.D. to fit

Scott, I gave you the wrong info. I double checked my bearings on my front one-way and they are the same diameter as the regular bearings but the inside diameter of the hole is BIGGER. R/C Anonymous is correct. The bearings I've been using with my front one-way are not the stock ones, they are the larger metric ones used with Yokomo cars. I checked it out after I saw the picture of your one-way. We do have the same one!

to get any 540 satd motor to fit you will need to drill/file/ream the motor mount cam.

These are made for everything other then the 540J

it really wouldnt fit, because the can is longer..

try any rebuildable 23t motor.

Nah they do fit...as been said B4 you just have to drill/ream out the motor cam.

Just be carefull not to take out too much.

Cheers

what im trying to say is.. if ther will be no modifications in the motor cam, the tamiya 540j motor wouldnt really fit.

budget and plan wise settle for a rebuildable 23turn. IMO

Hey guys, I need urgent help. I posted here before if tc4 differential outdrives fit and yes it does. But now I need to know if the steel/aluminum outdrives for NTC3 can be used on the TC3. Really Need to know. Thanks.

Nope... the outdrives for the NTC3 are longer... the balls and gear will fit but the diff once installed will not work with your TC3 CVD's.
