I have a problem:

On my TC3 rear diff I have a horrible sound coming from the ring and pinion gear. Sounds like really poor mesh. I tried new gears, shimming until my fingers bled, new bearings, new parts, and I'm at my wits end. It is still there! Suggestions?

I assume the other diff is fine. Swap pinions, then diff assemblys, to see if you can isolate the problem.

When I hit throttle from standing, the car tends to veer left. I've already checked toes and camber but it still veers left. You think it's loose diff?

How do you check tweak? I just bought a tweak board. Do you add weigth first and then adjust shocks collars? Anyone have a systematic way. This is my first ep car.

First, take shock off arm and verify that the arm will drop by it's own weight. If not then you probably have a bent hinge pin. Remove springs and check "pack" on the shocks. Make sure the rebound is the same. Verify that the shocks are the same length, need only compare fronts to themselves and rears the same. Re-install shocks, set ride height. Shock collars should be at approximate same setting. Put on tweak board, car should be neutral. If not, car is tweaked. Put chassis on a flat surface (glass is best) and see if chassis is flat. Adjust shocks to get car flat. If collars are not close to same, be sure springs are same length. Be sure shocks are mounted the same when comparing side to side (for ex. outer hole on one are, and inner hole on the other, same with top mounting). Another way to check tweak is to put car on flat surface, find exact center of car, and lift car at that point. Tires should leave the surface at approximately the same time. Check droop too.

Hope this helps.

I think that Calandra makes cool aluminum parts for the TC3. Different colors too if I recall...

Default Just got a TC3

I just picked up a TC3 Team Touring on eBay. I'm not sure how well this was taken care of or if the gears are as smooth as they are supposed to be. Should I take the whole thing apart, relube the diffs and clean out the bearings?
