Appears to me that you are out of bounds kid. This is a TC3 thread, not Barracuda or XRay. Now get...

I know this is a tc3 thread, and I have a tc3, and its great. I love it. But tc3's are also getting old, and they tend to need to have a few things done to them to make them super competetive against the new cars. That's just my experiance from a lot of racing at my track. But I just said barracuda, because I always thought that it would be cool to have that car because I've never seen one. And I also said X-Ray because it's belt drive, and when you have a one way in a shaft drive car, it breaks a lot more things. And I thought it would always be cool to have an x-ray too because I've just had my tc3 for so long. Thats just my .02.

tc3's do have great support though.

it still boils down to your driving skills. nothing to do with the car.

racerdx6; it's okay, i was just give you are hard time, it was a joke. thanks for being a good sport. they may be old in terms of age but they are still competive. List of wins this year, Snowbirds, Reedy Race, On-Road Nats...That's just to name a few. don't get tripped up by trying to chase technology. "if ain't broke...don't fix it"

geez, at my local track people are gearing from 5.8 to about 6.8, me personally being at 6.2 (72/29). my motor doesn't get past warm either, and not much brush/comm wear. pretty large outdoor asphalt track. as i said everyone gears somewhere around 6-6.5 with monsters, so i don't think it's just me.

Default droop?

I'm confused. Some of you guys have been talking about the droop settings lately. What has been recommended is a setting of 4 front and 6 rear. However, Associated's manual recommends the exact opposite. Their manual states to set droop at 6 in the front & 4 in the rear. What's up?

The associated settings are a general setting.

A lot of it has to do with the type of track, the specific track and what we've found through experience. Those AE settings have not changed in years. . .we've just found out better, is all.

But, you might not like the settings that either recommend! All settings are very individual. As long as your droop is IDENTICAL Left to Right, you should be "okay" - maybe not great, but "okay".

What I would do would be to start with the settings given on this forum (F6R4) and play with them just a little at a time. . .

I can still be competetive with my tc3 at my track, and I can still win races too. So I don't find anything wrong with it, the only thing that bugs me about it is I really want to get a one way, but I just don't want to start breaking a lot of things in my drive chain because it's a shaft drive car. That's one reason the x-ray looks kinda appealing to me, is because it's belt and so with a one way in it there's a little "give" in the drive chain. What could I do to bullet proof my drive chain so it can handle a one way with out breaking that often? That's the only thing I don't like about my car, but otherwise its great, and I haven't broken anything on it for a couple months. Besides the front right bearing carrier that snapped when I came too close to the sweeper full thottle .

Dude it's not as bad as some has described it or you think. I have NEVER broke anything on my cars because of the One-Way, and we run then religiously at Socal. Are you running on carpet, if not get a One-Way. You will never know until you try it. Understand that you will have to modify your driving style. Besides, it's a tuning option, you want to have it in your box. Just because a certain type of screwdriver does not fit a current application, you don't throw it away, you put it away for when you will need it. At least try it...
