Default F104 Pro vs X1

Hey Tim, are you racing these days. Just got into F1 recently and having fun as long as I can stay out of the way of the fast guys.

So you guys that are running the X1 now, are the improvements in design translating to faster cars on the track once you have some time on them? Easier to get hooked up?

yep, 5 to 6 oz total.

I'm gonna run mine like that Saturday on hi bite, sprayed asphalt, Cal Raceway in Orange, CA.
Practiced with it and it was nice.
Hope it is competitive cuz so far in UF1 races it hasn't been but no attention given either due to the Tamiya TCS rule Nazis.

The guys at my track are saying that the x1 performs better on asphalt then the pro but on carpet unless the x1 has got foams on u aint keeping up to a pro

The damper tube setup on the x1 offers no real performance advantage over the damper disc setup on the std f104. The x kit does come better equipped for rubber tire racing with the high traction t-bar & short upper deck standard.

Default HELP! Local modelshop clueless or useless

I picked up my 1st F104 F60 2 days ago but im missing the pinion gear for the motor an i need 1 bearing for 1 of the front wheels as its the wrong size.

The chap in the modelshop told me that its imposible to get parts for these cars an that my chances of finding a pinion gear are slim to none???????
That these cars arnt popular 1 bit an that i should look for sumfin else!
I told him i bought this car as im a F1 fan an i allways wanted 1 as a kid so now ive got 1!

He tryed talking me out of getting the car running an gettin me to do a deal with him for sum HPI drift car thing!
Telling me that theres nowhere i can run my F104 cus its to low an it will cost more then the cars worth to put it right. (a pinion an bearing is more then its worth lol)

Then he offered to buy the car from me for £50?

wasnt the answer i was looking for as all i wanted was a pinion an bearing.
Can any 1 help me out with this please
thanks

The guy at that shop was a arse to put it mildly.
I believe the front wheel bearing is a 5x10x4 bearing and the pinions are 0.4 module if the spur gear is a Tamiya one.
Try e-bay, i am sure you will find it there or another hobby shop??

regards Roy

Hi Bigtomo71,

My former favourite dealer in Munich told me something like that a year ago:
No parts, no pilots, F1 is dead, etc.

If I got you right, you need these:

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-mot...62-p-8270.html

Anyone got any ideas on setup for a 104X1 outside on foams?
Running mine this weekend, got one qualifier left, and I'm lost! Running 25 shore rears, 45shore fronts, black front springs, and it's super front endy.
Tried loads to get rid of the almost instant front end, but so far to no avail... help!

Cheers
Ed
