Heat doesnt help these decals, they are that stiff. I have tried applying them wet, dry with heat, without. The vinyl is the problem. Its not bad going over curves in one direction, its when you try to wrap it over a compound shape.

The only way I found that looks somewhat good is to cut the decal in the compound curve so that it lays flat. Then match some paint to the decal color and carefully paint back in the now missing portions.

Where do people order the decals from?

I've got my F104 on order, along with a spare shell.
Hoping to paint a 2009 Brawn and a 2008 McLaren.

I keep checking d-drive and they're always out of stock... not sure how often they update the site.

Anywhere else to order?

Cheers,
Lee.

ddrive is about it, although you might check on ebay. I saw someone selling the same sheets a ddrive, but but they were a lot more expensive. I am planning an order to ddrive in the next couple of days, I can ask them when they might have what you are looking for back in stock.
Are you in the states?

Thanks BP Shadow.
No, UK based.

I did email the store over the weekend, not heard back yet.

How much do you charge for a paint job then? I've seen your other F104 shells.

I can find no info on decal island or chevron. I need a address or phone#. heck even a country of orgin and i can find them. Thanks, Fat

You can also find AMS decals from Rainbowten. The printing is just as awesome as the D-drive stuff and the vinyl they print on seems to be more flexible (atleast the sheets that I got years ago). I don't know if AMS and D-drive have a relationship with each other but their sheets look almost identical. I don't have any of the newer stuff from AMS but my past experience with their decals have been exeptional.

Any help would be great. Thanks, Fat

Very nice work BP Shadow. Looks like you put in a massive amount of effort on your work so well done mate!

AMS is the manufacturer of the decals. I'm not sure why D-Drive refers to them as Decal Island on their English shop because in their Japanese blog pages, they are referred to as AMS... So yes they are also available from Rainbow Ten.
