Well, that depends on your point of view. If you complained about the cars characteristics on cornering Tamiya would have failed. But on straights it has improved. (IMHO)

Ok, is there anyone out there that likes the F104 car? I am thinking of getting the Tamiya F104 F60 version and upgrading over time.

I currently have a standard Tamiya F103 (graphite) and F103 hybrid (HPI) and 3Racing parts so I like to tinker with the options....

When you find yours or get a replacement, put an o-ring on top of it next time. This helps prevent the top hat from coming off and you from doing "the walk"

yep: use the extra o-ring in the kit on the nut


top deck:looks more like someone dremeled the stock one for bullet connectors

I use a Team Orion hard case 3400.. and it fit perfectly...

I had to mod the battery retainer a tad bit (i cut a little off the two downward facing posts facing the battery.. kinda like modding a servo lead by taking the tabs off)

I also dremeled notches in the top deck to allow me to use the 4mm jacks on the top of the battery

love the f104. I use yeah racing roar approved 3200 hardcase lipos and they fit with room to spare
104 is a better car once you get it dialed. see my post like 2 pages back
I think the rubber tires will be the way to go. f60 is a good choice.

I've added some notes in my post. If you want a more detailed explanation, try the Xray link MaxSp97 posted. This is an excellent, comprehensive guide and will answer most of your questions in detail. And most of the adjustments are very similar to the F104.

Setup is about getting a good compromise so you can drive the car to do the best laps possible. So you are partly right in that a stiff car does have less traction in general but if it is too soft, you can also wash off corner speed and be difficult to drive.

Thanks, I am thinking starting with the basic no-frill chassis and work upward would be the way to go. This way I can evaluate the impact of any upgrade I make....
