I saw on Tamiya's site last night that there is a F104W -Lotus 102B coming out. No other details besides the MSRP of 275. Maybe just a release with another body.

Are the 104W bodies the same as the 103s? Can I use the wings and bodies that I already have for my 103 cars?
Haven't tried anything yet

The wings you can use.
The bodies have there holes for the bodyposts at a different place and i bellieve the F104 bodies are a bit longer and a bit narrower.

You may have to drill new holes, but should work. I use _F103, F104, and F104w on my F1R. Not exactly the same but close enough for govt work, plus a lot more room underneath.

You might want to weigh your packs. I have heard that the shorty packs in some instances are heavier than the full size lipos

I had in the past. I have 4 different packs. This is how each performed on the 2 tracks I race at.

6800 70c - 320g - 2nd fastest lap time on the larger track I race at - causes understeer
5800 60c - 280g - 2nd fastest lap time on the smaller track I race at. decent turn in.
4200 40c - 220g - slowest of all batteries but better initial turn in than the above 2 packs
4400 50c shorty - 220g - fastest on both tracks. Similar straight line performance to the 6800 70c with the turn in of the 4200 40c.

The shorty for me is equal lightest but it is definitely heavier than the packs others I know use. I have seen some other guys using full sized lipos weighing 180 grams.

The benefit seems to be mostly that I can minimise the weight on the front tyres which gives me better front grip and maximise the weight over the rear giving me the most rear grip.

Hi, I am going to change the gearing on my pro, will the RW racing spurs work? -any ideas what size ceramic balls I need for that spur? -3mm?

Will use the HW justock esc and HW 21.5t motor and thinking I need 2.5 to 3 gearing if I have understood right what I have read here.

If RW wont work, what gears would fit the f104 well? -I have the spur gear adapter allready.

Ok F104 pros, I need some help. I keep having the lower ball on the front arm pop out. I have changed balls, and even changed lower arms, still pops out. Any ideas? I'm sure its something simple. But Im not catching it.

What wheels are you using?
What spacers are you using on the kingpins?
Any slop above the upright?
Bumpy track?
Ride height at the front?

Just finished cleaning my F104GT for asphalt season...

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/3364/p1080901z.jpg

and result of my experiment? even with "traditional" dumper I was still able to race with cars like Corally 10SL and Xray X10... around 3-5 position, first two have corally/xray too, but still better hands than I have , after 1/2 of the race, when they catch me, I figured out that we our cars are same... I also noticed that I was little bit faster than the two riders in front of me, but I wasn't able to get in front of them... they were just too good and don't left me space to overtake them... so in final I was around 3 position in question of speed, but I screwed up the qualification and wasn't able to overtake the 3 and 4, so I ended on 5 position

anyway, F104GT is perfect car! , but I just want to ask question, is there a way to have 50mm rear tires on F104 with width under 200mm? and... is there a way to actually adjust the width to 235mm? (local GT category is limited to 235mm ...)

There are some hub wheels pro10 tires adaptors for F103/f014, just look for them in the forum. In Germany they use these adaptors to run F103/f104 based cars in the WGT/pro10s (200 mm) category.

Grabbed the R-Sector widening kit for my F104 to have a bit of a play. All worked well, except the diff-side axle is a little loose and causes the rear wheel to wobble. In part, this is because the wheel sits on less of the hub part which is anchored to the main axle.

Any suggestions on the best way to stabilise it?
