Hmmmmmmm...
With out battery and most electronics my car stands level with the sponge.
No preload on the spring.
Only thing that was in the car was the servo.
Perhaps it is that i use "old" sponges.
Been running it in wide config on foam and i get a easy understeered car if i want to.
I can choose to run softer front tires or harder rear to get more steer
And or run a stiffer centre spring.
As i drive mostly on the bigger tarmac tracks i like it be as neutral as i can get it.
With the setup i have and no tire sauce i get it nice and easy to drive.

Thanks that makes sense. I thought it was the axle that was longer. So its the upright itself that is offset. I'll check that out. So then it gives the car a shorter wheel base?

Yeah I've been using a new sponge. I may try sit the sponge under some weight to compress it and see how it is after that even.

At the moment though I'm more looking for front grip anyway.

Yep, the trailing/offset spindles shorten it up a little and will calm down the steering.
When you assemble them I recommend that you CA the axles into the plastic and if you can get quality screws do it and loctite them. They tend to let the axles slide out and screws break off in the axles, too soft.

Hi,

I hope you can help me. I fried some 64dp spurs (#54055) in the last race. Are these spurs suitable for my F104Pro or should I go for some 48dp spurs? I read hat they are more durable.

48p is defiantly more durable and not as prone to strippin out as 64/.04 pitch(from my experiance anyway) 48 is a little noisier tho

Ok thanks. I'll then go for 48dp spurs. Do you have any suggestions which one to take? I see there is only the F104W kit spur made by Tamiya.

With a spur gear adaptor you can use the Kimbrough and or Xenon spur gears on the Tamiya f1 models.

I ran the 3.5mm uprights this weekend at West Coast. Practicing for the upcoming UF1 race. The car was pushing mid corner. I think for this track the standard upright would give me more front bite. The 3.5mm upright I bet is better for a more open out door layout. Probably would help with over steer.
The back end had plenty of grip at West Coast. Fun track can't wait to see the UF1 layout.

Nice car Is that the Tamiya re-release? What brand rubber tyres are they, car looks mean standing still.

Default Next Tamiya release???

Hi,

Anyone got any ideas as to what Tamiya is likely to release next F1 kit wise? I know about the F104W GP Edition (w/Body) - F104W-GP but am more interested in the scale kit looks of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes - F104 MP4-24 and the like.

There are still Vodafone McLaren Mercedes - F104 MP4-24 kits available so an option is to buy one of them but I'd really like to know what they have planned next!!!
