Just thought I would give a sneak peek at the 643 I am just about done with. Just gotta dial up the helmet and trim and assemble the wing and she's all done.

The body is for sale, $160 shipped in the lower 48, inquire about overseas shipping costs, I am sending the car out this weekend to be photographed for the paintlab website

Exclamation F1 IIC RACE?

Question,
I was thinking about going to Vegas for the IIC race in 17.5 rubber tire sedan class, but I see you need help getting enough F1's to Vegas. So, I was wondering I have my Tamiya F103 sitting in my garage collecting dust and I was wondering I could run that class in Vegas. I don't know all the rules and if I even have the correct chassis body or tires to run so let me know! ASAP that way I can look into cost to get my F1 up to spec!
I'll talk to Rod Canare, Tom Kahl, Craig Hammon (Cuda) and Anthony Fung if they are interested in doing Vegas. I know this is a stretch asking all these F1 "FUN"antics to go at this time but it wouldn't hurt to ask and it would be awesome to run carpet. Not sure how grip is with rubber tires or if I can find rubber tires for my F103 ?

Unfortunately the F103 is too wide according to the rules being used for the F1 class at the IIC.

Hey Max,

Rule #1 is 180mm width.

The F103 in stock trim is 200mm wide, the wider front end and the fatty rear tires makes that configuration illegal.

The F104 is 180mm which is the class rules maximum width.

As stated in the rules, the F103 and the F104W would need modifications i.e. narrower/F104 front end and rear tires.

The only other question would be if the "Retro" style bodies would be considered legal.
I'm guessing that the modern F1 is basically the goal for this class.

You really need to bring the F103 out to the Ultimate F1 races.
There's an open class which allows foam tires and any motor.

Next round is in Mid Sept at Cal Raceway in Orange.

Well I finally broke and put a F104 X1 on order and should have it next week. My local track is trying to start up a F1 class but we are torn between running TCS rules and UF1 series rules. Its an indoor carpet track and it seems like most guys want to go with the UF1 's realistic class rules with the exception of using foam tires.

Any build tips for this beast?

UF1 rules are the way to go, without question.

The only reason to go with Tamiya rules should be for a Tamiya event as they do all they are familiar with in order to keep things equal.

I am confident that if and when they discover what the UF1 has been running over the past couple years, they too will quickly settle on a couple or even a few brushless combos that will satisfy everyone as it has done for us regular UF1 participants.

im thinking of getting a f104 x1 they are well priced i see they are $180 on rcmarket..
i have my f104 pro hooking up on rails at the moment so for those who can compare the 2 is it a well worth investment ? they certainly look very good

I decided seeing how well my front difuser worked to make the rear one better. This is the after run picture. You can barely notice it but it has a skirt on the outside to seal it off from the tires.


I had run the car before installing this on a figure 8 and oval, both are high speed. Without it I had to open the differential, have the center screw almost fully out and still had to be careful on the throtle or it would go sideway. I had to coast until the apex of the turn.

After the diffuser Instantly i noticed that the car no longer had power oversteer, so i locked the differential. Still no power oversteer. And Now im only lifting for half a second on corner entry. So I tightened the center screw and got a good balance on the car going. Corner stability and speed increase is incredible. Now i just need to find a more sturdy tape to seal the motor opening with.

Get yourself some styrene. I used it to fill all the holes on the rear pod. It is glued to my diffuser and can all be removed with just taking out two screws.
