Iím not sure if any of you have seen this or not. I did a search on the net for the F104 Pro and found these. It looks like Tamiya is going to show some extra bits for the new F1 kit at the upcoming Shizuoka Hobby Show next week

IMO that sounds possible more weight side to side will transfer the weight out and increasing turning ability. And I would think having all the weight in the center will kill streight away stabilty. Could be completly wronge but just seems that way..

Yup, I plan on getting one if they have another F1 class at the TCS in CT. I was told this year there will be one so I ordered an F103RM. If it catches on I will get the 104 and use the 103 as a parking lot beater. If it doesn't catch on, I will get something else and still use the 103 as a beater. I don't plan on adding any upgrades other than Tamiya.

Weight down the centerline should be better. Just look at open wheeled race cars - from Formula Fords to F1 and Indy Car - most of their weight is concentrated down the center of the car.

They must have just posted that today. I searched earlier and didn't find it. I was wondering about the battery also. Hopefully more info will come out soon.

The Trinity EV10 ran batteries down the center with huge success.

I think there is more stability in a 235mm car vs. something 200mm or less, especially without a high downforce prototype body. We will see, however.

Well as someone else also mentioned the Cross car could run the battery in that configuration and the guy running one locally here ran quite well like that. Also there are a few 1/12th scale cars that run 4 cells in-line that run pretty good as well. It's all just a matter of getting the right setup for the configuration you have.

Looking to get my first F1 car and after reading this thread I dont know whether I should get the Tamiya F104 or the new HPI car. Is there any any threads on this forum talking about the new HPI car?

The F103 kit price through our L.H.S. is $149.99. I believe our cost on the new F104 to be around $200.00, through our L.H.S. We are currently running the F103 TCS spec. class, and the car is awesome. There is no comparison to the F103 and the HPI car. We run on a large permanent outdoor asphalt track. The F104 looks to be a major improvement and more refined, for more serious F1 racing. The Tamiya F103 kit makes for an easy competitive spec class of racing. The new F104 looks to be a natural progression for our club. We run the car basically box stock with the kit foams, which work by far the best, on our high bite track. I wish my 13.5 TC was as inexpensive to race.
