btw, zero timing does not mean, smoother or lower power

What settings were you running? - esc, motor, gear ratio, track type etc.

I'm sure not all your time was lost in speed though.... If I were to find a second a lap I would be faster than any electric car that had gone around our track.

this is the Roar Paved Nats, ran on the same exact track and surface that the Reedy Race was held on, I was on pace at the Reedy, until the tires went away. I can't get near the same guys this time. my settings are all over the board trying to find something, what worked at Reedy is no longer good enough. when the esc blew it was at drrs, max, amts max, supercharger boost two below max, delay 7000 ,throttle delay .01 supercharger punch -1.

the sp 17.5 geared at 5.4, and a duo geared at 6.2 the duo melted, first run on

oh and you would lose that bet. the car is dailed otherwise.

oh yea, and no support for that either

Maybe your ESC had been faulty throughout the meeting and eventually fried.... In 17.5 no matter what settings you choose, it would be pretty darn hard to fry the esc. Running 13.5 or even a 4.0 turn with 205 I have never had any real heat with the esc.

Thats the only thing I could imagine if you are that much slower. 1 second is a huge amount of time.

How much motor timing on the SP and Duo motors? Zero?

Skypilot...if you have anything left try these settings. This is what we have been using and there hasnt been any car that can out run these settings. The lower FDR you are using is a sign to me that something else is wrong...imo. Every lower FDR setup we have used was met with failure. Things really didnt start clicking until we went this way and raised the FDR.

I like the high FDR setups as well, but they make the motor seem like it had a HUGE amount of drag brake. Anything above the mid 6's and I can't drive the car because of the drag brake feel (I never run any drag brake at all).

For short / medium sized tracks, what Kevin posted is spot on (only a few tweaks for driver feel / different motor setups needed).

I PM'd you a Big track 17.5 setup (200ft straight) earlier that has worked very well here as well.

Hello everyone i need some help. is the rotor in a 17.5 v3 the same as the 13.5 v3 and if i were to put the 13.5 rotor in the 17.5 can will it still be a 17.5 motor. i know this is kind of a silly question but still kind of new to electric.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Josh,

The motor can is where the windings are, so you can switch rotors between the 13.5 and 17.5 V3 motor cans without any problem. Just be sure to check the rotor end play as the required shims on the rotor for one motor may be different for the other.

I am planning to be. However for RCGT, there is not much required for dialing in the ESC since it is a spec class (no Turbo, limited boost, etc...). I'm running a SP Club Spec in RCGT, so only changes I make are Drag Brake.

If you getting hot its most likely overgeared.

Thanks guys... Like I said.. being new to mod, im not exactly sure if im over-geared or not. I just went by what the motor manual suggested, and what was suggested to me at the track by a couple of other experienced mod guys. I have my 4.5 geared at 9.4 (lrp x-12)

Most times you will always be faster with Drag Brake.....learn to use it. Watch the pro drivers and see how their cars slow down its not all them hitting the brakes.
