Default Speed Passion 17.5 V3 FDR/Gearing

here is the setup i have right now, spent the last two days trying out 110 and 107 and all sorts of different settings..

ESC: SP GT 2.0 (PRO)
Software: 107
FDR: 104/45*1.9 = 4.39
Battery: Thunder Power 7.4v 40C
Motor: SP V3 17.5R
Track: 100 Foot Straight away total 100/50 foot
SP ESC Timing: 22.6 degrees
Drag Brake: 10%
Physical Motor Timing: 7 or so degrees (between max and middle position)
Chassis: XRAY T3

I was running a bad motor initially and was getting mixed result.. changed to another v3 17.5 and car is consistently fast.. I will try 10 degree max timing on the physical motor next and probably another tooth or two on the pinion and then try 110 also with the same gearing to see what happens... but initial testing i found the 107 to be faster..but we'll see

How's does the GT 2.0 LPF compare to the new RS v203? The Tekin v203 is very fast in stock 17.5. How does the SP compare in stock?

Default Turbo

It won't come close to the Tekin or Mamba now. I'm hoping that SP is working on it as I have 2 of the 2.0 gt's . I would think being that they can be updated they can come up with a program that will do the same thing with the timing boost. Tekin got to work on it real quick after they saw the Mamba laying it down. It may be a slow process being they are not made in the USA but I hope it can be done.

as with any speedo maker, i am sure SP likes to be on the cutting edge also.. I beleive something is in the works... however in my observation the new tekin software is currently faster than lrp spx and sp gt 2.0 on the straight away... i personally really like sp stuff so will wait for the update which i am sure will be coming out soon

Looking for a little advice on gearing a SP v3 13.5 with the 107 software...

Tried the car at the weekend with the default software settings and a ratio of 6:1, on a 30x16m indoor carpet track.

With this setup the car had good rip around the infield but was down on top end. I would say that compared to the 312 software the 107 has a bit more top end with the same amount of rip.

During the course of the day I upped the pinion until I was on 5.37 and put the profile on max timing (as suggested in the notes) in search of speed - all it seemed to do was blunt the rip, still not enough top end, and rising motor temperatures. Was getting monstered by the Tekins down the straight and through the corners.

In retrospect, my feeling is that 6:1 was the best setting - either that, or I was still way undergeared at 5.37 and need to be at 5:1 or lower to get the speed. My other feeling is that the speedo cannot match the competition in stock right now, and I have to accept that I can match them round the corners but not on the straights.

As a side note, does anyone else feel that the drag brakes are a bit softer on 107? I settled on 25% indoors with 312, but it didn't seem like enough on 107, was tempted to try 40% or a custom setting in between.

If your buddy is running Tekin with V203 software, you will not be able to catch him. However, SP is definitely working on the newer software that has been testing right now...stay tune.

Try timing to max 26.25 on the speedo. Adjust your motor timing a little...may be gear up 1 or 2 tooth if your motor temperature does have rooms for improvment. Your DRRS can be a little more, try 6/7.

The key is 180 degrees or lower on the motor after a 6 minutes race.

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

I just want to re-iterate what Adam Bailey had said earlier in the thread...

SETUP YOUR SPEEDO AGAIN AFTER UDPATING THE SOFTWARE!

Just realised I hadn't done this before the weekend - and my neutral point was actually running a few clicks into the normal braking. No wonder my drag braking was soft - it wasn't working!

I was still getting full throttle, so that doesn't necessarily explain the lack of top end, but might explain the soft feel on low throttle.

Another wasted weekend then... I wish SP would put a big flashing sign on the updater to remind bozos like me...

DOUBLE AAAARRRRRGGGGHHH!

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH...how could you forget that? LOL (I did that several times before I was updating for the 1st time). GT2, specically with the newer software (107 and later)...there is NO WAY anyone can complain about lack of braking power. I was very concern about how bad that will do to the carpet when I was braking...LOL

Let just say they will match it....however, if you do look around, FASTER might not be necessory better. I am not naming names here but there are tracks and event that does not allow some specific software/hardware to run due to the "unfair advantage" on certain class. So it depends on what class that you are running, I know the current 1107 1110 software is on par with the other model and their softwares.....of course, there are couple software/hardware are indeed the fastest right now but again, some area might not allow those equipment to be use on some specific class.
