different brand motors require different gearing, if adam told you to gear the novak like we do the speedpassions and it melts.....your gest advice will be from novak, which is why adam suggested you talk to them

I'm sorry if you took me telling you to ask the motor manufacturer for their gearing recommendation and their motor as insulting. And if you decide to run a Novak ESC that's your decision.

I'm cannot make a gearing recommendation on a motor I have never run to a customer where as I can be blamed if said motor fails.

I can happily give you a gearing recommendation for a Speed Passion motor as I run them, and are familiar with them. If you decide to run that ratio on your Novak and it fails I would appreciate it if I, Schumacher, or Speed Passion was not held responsible.

It would be good for support if an esc manufacturer/distributor tests out most popular motors. As we all know that by now, motor turns alone does not dictate gear ratios. You have a huge market in the US and the effort will be worth it. Its just a suggestion.

This was Carpet but I ran 3.25 on my MI3.5 at Snowbirds last year. I haven't run 17.5 since but I would say between 4.2 and 3.2

Have a question. Getting a newer V3 17.5. I have the older SP 17.5 v1. Everything being the same is there going be any change in gearing to the newer V3 17.5?

There's more timing in the V3 motors, gear down a few teeth to start and check your temps

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic in my original answer dude, I simply said you need to ask Novak for gearing on their motors. No harm no foul I guess, my bad if you took it wrong dude

hey chris, I run the SP 17.5 v3.0 with a SP LPF 2.0 with timing all the way up, and DRRS all the way up and a 3.7 gear ratio, youtube, Fantasy world racing for the size of pavement track (outdoor) and youtube, hanger 30 for indoor carpet, I use the same gear for both tracks. gearing on motor at zero, hope that helps, and hope to race you again someday.
