Does anyone know if there's some "fundamental" difference in the 3.0 competition motors that are 8.5 or lower turns compared to 9.5 or higher? My previous SP motor which is in my SC10 2wd is 7.5t, but now I got a 9.5t for my B5M because it was cheaper than an 8.5, and I figured the 9.5 at 4000kv should be fast enough compared to the Reedy 540SL-3300kv that was in it. Originally I had the 7.5t in the B5M actually, and it was too much especially on the tiny indoor track I was driving on at the time where in turn the Reedy worked nicely, but now it's mainly an outdoor track and the Reedy lacks "punch" there at times.

Thing is I just noticed in the SP 3.0 series comparison PDF that the 8.5 has a max draw of 55 amps and the 7.5t is 58 amps while the 9.5 is 28 amps. Another not-that-important difference is that the timing selector on the 7.5 moves quite freely, with the 9.5 it appears stuck in place - some googling lead me to earlier discussions on this thread which said that one may have to untighten the motor case screws to adjust... but I've never done that with the 7.5.

Anyway, main point being the amp draw, it makes me wonder if in my quest to save a few euros I may have bought a notably weaker motor that may not end up being such an upgrade over the Reedy after all. Constantly raining so who knows when I can actually go to the track to test. There's still +700kv and the benefit of being sensored, but... those extra amps gotta do something. Torque?
