528 should be the one to use.....

Between 13.5 and 17.5...gearing (final drive) is what I usually adjust, not much about the ESC setting EXCEPT item #4 DRRS. (8 for less aggressive, 9 for more aggressive). Outdoor (hint, less traction the carpet), I use #8, Indoor carpet (more traction and tighter), I use #9.

13.5 gearing....8.0 final drive for me, 17.5 gearing....7.5 final drive (INDOOR carpet with around 80 foot straight). Our drivers @ IIC SS 17.5 A-Main/B-Main was using 7.4 and 7.71....

13.5 gearing....6.8~7 final drive for me, 17.5 gearing....6.0~6.4 final drive (Outdoor asphault with around 120 foot straight).

We have used 5.2~5.5 12.3mm silver rotor on V3 17.5 motor on a 275 foot 1/8th track before..but that is some rare hugh track for electric TC setup.

All of the above setup were tested by Speed Passion V3 13.5 and 17.5 with standard rotor.

Hi Solara,

Could you please post your ESC setup? Interesting to see how yours compares to Marcos J. considering how much the FDRs are quite different (Him low 5's for 17.5 and you mid 7's). Obviously it works for you and would like to test it whenever we get our new CRC carpet for the winter season.

THanks,

Ivan

G12314 (Jimmy) and Kevin K helped set this up for me since day 1 and I have never tried anything else cause it just work....so, give that a try. (Marco.J setup does work as well for different feel).

Sp V3 17.5 motor used, Max timing on can 10* (I never used the 5* timing). Gear at about 7.8 on tight small carpet track, if bigger, gear toward 7.2 and it is plenty fast for me to handle....

Used 100528STOCK software

Used fan on ESC, used fans and heat sink on MOTOR.

1-1
2-3
3-1
4-9 (use 8 for bigger carpet track, or outdoor track)
5-3
6-3
7-1
8-1
9-8
10-2

12-9
13-1
14-1 (use 2 if it is a longer straight or you want to see some delay)
15-3 (it can be 4 if I gear up more)

Speed Passion has a WIDE RANGE of power band....thats why it does see a wide range of gearing and setup and both work. For me...I only look at my LAP TIME....if I have to push my motor to 200* and get fast, so be it...

So I've had a V3 17.5 sitting in my motor box for about a year now because I only raced 13.5 and used Duo's. So recently I was thinking about using the V3 17.5 again fot vta and started reading here about it.

Well mine has the same problem with the sensor plug in which you can rotote it easy left or right. I thought to myself that was a cool feature to adjust the timing when I got it, but after reading in here it's not suppose to do that huh? funny to me.

I can attest that while the FDR sounds crazy high, I have found that they work great just as Marcos says even with Duo2 motors. I run a 5.2 FDR at my track with a 17.5, whereas we used to run around 6.5 with the same motors while using Tekins at our track.
