It did both unfortuantly... End of the run the motor smelt a bit hot, and had huge drag brakes, not a good sign.
Unplugged it all, put a spare motor in and...nothing.. Power was going to the servo and reciever (so I guess the BEC circuit is fine), but speedo itself was completely dead, no reponse to trying to set it up or run it. Also plugged in the LCD box, and just get the connecting esc message.. Oh well off to Schuey uk for repair..

As for the 107, I'm begining to get the impression that the DRRS is controlling the speed of the timing ramp in the firmware, hence why a higher number is giving more heat (faster/steeper ramp). Certainly for future I think 7 is the max to run without changing my gearing from 6ish. On smaller tracks where your on the throttle less might be able to get away with it, but where I was running its too much.
The ESC timing basically controls how much boost you have, so more timing should equal more boost, so a lower DRRS figure may be the way to go, and max out the timing for top end.

I took a few measurements already...

The factory setting (middle of the slot) is at a true 30deg timing, what most other manufacturers call zero.

Fully retarded on the endbell is -10deg from that, fully advanced is +10deg from that.

For some reason SP have marked the endbell to give the impression that the range is only from 0 to 10, with a default of 5. That is clearly wrong as there is 20deg movement in the slot.

I actually find the 1110 software has the best all around performance for 17.5 and 13.5 motor (or may be 10.5 11.5 motor too). At least, 1110 software does cool down the motor by a lot (if gearing correctly). Performance wise, I don't see any advantage from 1107 over the 1110. Except 1107 get the motor hotter for no other reason.

Give 1110 software a try...........

have a question...I installed the 1110 on both my sons car and mine..while I bench tested them I noticed a little shutter at low/mid throttle..anyone else notice it??? and the 1007 is defiantly more aggressive and has a little better top end.

That's just you finding the start of the timing ramp... I've seen this on other speedos as well (MMPro) so nothing to worry about

As for the softwares, I did try the 107 and 110 back to back, and do prefer the 107... However, you do need to tweak the settings to get it too run cooler, whereas the 110 you can seemingly keep them at max. Personally so far turned faster laps with the 107.
Not sure who else has noticed, but the zip file I downloaded off the SP site has a pdf doc with recomended setings for 17.5 from none other than Viktor Wilck (and speaking to some SP drivers this weekend, he has actually run it... So they aren't suggestions). Worth giving them a punt

HiH
Ed
I have had a similar experience... the following is the best setup that I could come up with 107... I agree 110 you can max everything out without temp concerns but 107 is faster for me in the end

ESC: SP GT 2.0 (PRO)
Firmware: 107
FDR: 104/46*1.9 = 4.29
Battery: Thunder Power 7.4v 40C
Motor: SP V3 17.5R
Track: 100 Foot Straight away total 100/50 foot
SP ESC Timing: 22 degrees
DRRS: 9
Drag Brake: 10%
Motor Timing: 10 degrees
Capacitor: SP Super Cap

I have tried running at 26 esc timining but prefer the performance and temp with 22, the physical motor timing is max. Coming off between 145-155F

Ed, or anyone....

You tried running the 107 setup with a high power lipo 53 40c, then with a lower power lipo? Might keep it cool as not so much waste.

Ran those settings tonight but with 13.5 Seemed pretty good, guessed a starting point with gearing and only made slight adjustments. Felt I had plenty of power throughout the rev range. Was only a club meeting so didn't want to push things too far, but has given me an idea of what to try this weekend.
