Default XRAY FK'05 setup

Just picked up a couple '05s and I am open to setup help and or suggestions. The car seems to have some tweak in it I can't seem to get rid of. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The tweak could be one or more of the aluminium bulkheads being a little bent. Take it all apart and check they are all straight as well as the chassis. Make sure the 3 feet on each bulkhead sit perfectly on a very flat surface. No use talking setup till you know everything is straight.

I checked it once when I put it together, but I can check again. Is that common on these cars? Thanks

Lots of good info here http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...4-xray-t1.html as well as the XRay forums. Plenty of T1 loyalists out there

Any ideas on other places the tweak could be coming from? Previous FK'05 drivers?

I'm running the FK05, so just to be sure you checked the chassis, both with the bulkheads on and off the chassis; and the bulkheads both standing up and laying on their sides? Correct? If so check that you have the correct shock shafts in all the shocks. If thay've been changed one may have been replaced with a T2 shaft by mistake which is shorter. Also check that the shafts are fully extending because if one is not this will produce tweak. Report back after you've checked all those and if the tweak is still there we'll moove on.

Bent motor mount bulkhead is prety common on any car, as it is expossed to impact by the motor sticking out, My cyclone was tweaked bad and i couldnt get rid of it and this bulkhead was the problem. Took me ages to find coz i was like it cant be that for like a year when i was a bit of a noob & refused to pull aprt the whole car and check each bulk head on it sides and standing up on a piece of glass.

Just starting to tear it back apart, will post more when I get it back apart. I checked everything once a couple days ago when I put it together, maybe not quite good enough...

Got it pulled apart, checked out and nothing is bent, shock shafts are all the same, any other things to check? Thanks for the suggestions so far...

Are you running LiPo? If so have you balanced the car? After that set your ride height, then your tweak with a tweak station. You should even balance the car with NIMH's.
Just one more thing, I was at the carpet nationals this past weekend and had a set of rubber tires that made the car feel tweaked on the track, even though everything else was spot on. I changed the set and my problem disappeared, but by then it was too late and I was stuck in a bad qualifier.

Are you using the battery hold down, or taping the batteries in?

The battery hold down can introduce tweak in the chassis when tightened down enough to hold the battery secure.

What class will you be racing? I'm currently running carpet 17.5 rubber with my FK05, and will be working on an asphalt rubber setup when the outdoor season gets in full swing.

Using the strap, think it is better to tape? I will be racing 13.5 rubber on asphalt starting in about 2 weeks.

Remove the hold down strap and see if your car is still tweaked, then you tell me if tape is better.

The FK is a tough car, so it should do you well without requiring a lot of spare parts.

Good to hear, I just acquired 3 of them including a NIB kit and a few spare parts.
