We laid down the semi-IIC layout tonight. Hopefully it grooves up quick before Friday, there's two club races before then. It's gonna be a busy weekend.

Sweet. The last two times I've been at the club track on Saturday it has just been me.

Hi all (first post so please be gentle )

I have just sold on my TRF415 MSX MRE and picked up a Photon to use at my local carpet track (on rubber).

I haven't started the build yet, saving that for the weekend, but first impressions are that this is an excellent, well thought out kit.

I have noticed a few comments about spools being a weak point on tight twisty high grip tracks, so have also picked up a few spare parts. Hopefully the alu spool cups will be out soon. I have also found a race-spec spool from a UK company called TitaniumRacing. I can't post a link yet but I am sure a Google will pick them up. One thing though, I can't work out what pulley you'd use on it.

Anyway... I will hopefully have my chassis all prepped ready for a build up at the weekend. My kit came with a sheet of amendments and build tips (the spool already uses different screws) so I will be careful to follow them.

I will be running with a Speed Passion LPF 2.0 ESC and 13.5 B/L motor along with 25C lipos - should be fun !

Can't wait to race next Friday

Daniel.

PS - well done Josh and T.O.P.

My intentions are to build my car with a diff in front but replacing the balls with Traxxas #4685 friction pegs. Thats whats in my 416 and it rocks! Blades and all.

Don't quote me on this but I'm 99% sure it will be a yokomo pulley..... I'll find out from darren at TR then let you know....
I'll also find out the lengths of the CVD's too.

But I can vouch for the TR products they are great. I'm sure anyone purchasing wont be disappointed :-)

The Yok BD and BD5 uses 40 tooth as well as the TC5. This past weekend, someone used a TC5R oneway in their Photon with very slight dremel action to the oneway unit. Maybe slight dremel action to the chassis. Not sure. There are many 40 tooth options out there.

yup yokomo pulley is a good fit.
I'm running the TR BD5 spool in my car, all that needed doing was shimming out. Or a longer center section which is what I think they adjusted on the TOP version of the TR spool.

Luke, do you find the bd5 spool to be a significant improvement over the stock unit or is it just because it is aluminium and improved tolerances ?
in other words, do you reduce chatter a bit ?
