Anyone looking for a used photon I got a couple for sale. $350 for both. I have lipo chassis one and a carpet one with an extra chassis. You can see the photos of all the stuff here.
All aluminum hubs, battery holder, and steering crank. Gear diffs are in the lipo one. Also comes with an extra set of shocks. Tamiya shocks are on the lipo chassis.

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if this light weight gear diff, pro stock edition is for use in the front and not the rear. I know it might be a stupid question, just wondering. If the front, who has found what oil works best for 17,5 boosted and 13,5 boosted?. I have both the ex and cefx version of the photon and they both are currently unbeaten at my club....

thanks guys, any thoughts/ advise would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it's intended for the rear, but can be used for both.. I used it 1 time in the rear because I had to rebuild my spec r diff but it worked fine... Type into google top photon racer log and there's more than you need to know about the car from some of the best in the business

I know it's no good but this past weekend my car was so loose the car would break loose and spin at almost every turn, finally after doing everything I could think of I took out my spec r gear diff and opened it up and it was pretty much empty( no oil) so I put the upro one in and it was night and day.. Most likely ill never use it again but I learned my lesson by not keeping up with maintenance.. I pretty much changed and rebuilt everything I can since Saturday

Not sure, I have the exotek chassis but never used it but I do know if you cut the arm off the bellcrank you can mount the servo east to west but not really sure if it will make that much of a difference...
I use the EJ lipo chassis and its great.. How is the exotek? I'm probably going to try it one of these days, probably outdoors in the next month or so just not to kill my EJ

Default Xray challenge Greece

Last weekend, it was the xray challenge greece that took place in our huge FRT track, with an international guest, Alexander Hagberg!
We were all expecting him to learn new tricks, and see how faster could he go..

For tthis race, there was the nosram 30 pre glued as a controlled tire, something the TOP team had never tried before, but the xrays had tested a lot...

I made two runs on a set of tires to see if everything worked ok, while Nick managed to run 5-6 laps due to a problem. The tires are not the best, but overall ok, with the car being just a little loose.

On Saturday practice, Alex set a new record for the layout, 17,7 while our best lap times were 18,5...

On Sunday, nothing had changed, with Alex easily securing TQ, Nikos Georgiadis (who was learning from Alex how to fine-tune his T4) in 2nd, me in 3rd (on old tires of Saturday's practice), and Nick Nikolakopoulos in 4th, on old tires again...

First final: Alex was cruising, while I managed to pass Nikos Georgiadis in the third corner, and left him fight with Nick Nikolakopoulos for 3rd spot. In the end of the run, Alex was 1st, I was 2nd, 8-10sec behind, and Nick managed 3rd.

Second final: Alex again in front, and Nikos, me, and Nick had a very close fight for 2nd when I traction-rolled ( f...nosrams!) and lost contact from them about 10 sec. I pushed really hard and tried to finish 2 sec behind Nick whou had again pass Nikos, who suffered a tire issue and had a DNF.

Third final: Alex had secured the win, but made the run, and again was cruising to victory.Nikos Georgiadis was very good at this time, and even though I pushed a lot, couldn't pass him. Nick Nikolakopoulos suffered a broken spur gear, so couldn't stay with us.

Final result for A-main was:

1.Alexander Hagberg-xray T4
2.Dimitris Mitropoulos - TOP photon ex
3.Nick Nikolakopoulos - TOP photon ex

4.Nikos Georgiadis - xray T4
5.Dimitris Kostantopoulos - xray T4
6.Dimitris Mpakirtzis - xray T4
7.Argiris Papagianakopoulos - xray T3
8.Thanassis Ntalwsis - tamiya trf 417
9.Petros Katsikis - xray T3
10.Rompokos - xray T4

Overall, it was a good race, and the result was like a win for TOP Racing Team Greece.
I ll post my setup soon.

I gotta quick question.

I club race a TOP Photon in 17.5 blinky. Whats a
good C-rating for a lipo for that class?
Is anything above a 40c really necessary for 17.5 blinky racing?

Hi, I bought a pair of battery packs because they came with a good reputation. Had them for over 18 months. Well worth the initial outlay in my opinion.

Thanks,
I'm just wandering if a guy really needs 60c to 90c lipo's to race 17.5 blinky class.

Am I gonna notice a difference going from a 40c to a higher C-rating?

From what I have been able to tell, high C packs punch harder with less gearing, but the C ratings themselves are arbitrary at best, there is a vague indicator that a higher C pack will give more performance, but whatever that C is may only be worth a damn if you trust the pack brand, and even then one brands 100C is only worth another's 70C rating.

Thanks,
What are some trusty worthy brands with a believable C rating?
Lipo's that are worth the extra cash.
