Electronics: Tekin RS, Futaba 9551, Futaba micro receiver, Micro xponder, Boss fan, 302 grams.

So I'm looking at a 302/298 or 302/315 weight balance. I guess (for me) the belt side doesn't matter as much as general placement and good balance.
Here is the problem with those numbers. The weight is distributed differently. The motor hangs wayyy off the chassis. The battery does not. So really you would have to use balance buttons or something to balalnce your car.

If you are running the lipo chassis with the aluminium holders out as far as possible on the chassis, it should be very very close. I rebuilt a fellow racers car that had a lipo chassis and aluminium holders... It balanced well with 300g lipo's, hw 120a esc, std servo and receiver. Thats with the belts flipped and the esc mounted as far in as possible

One good thing with the alloy mounts, you can shim in or out on the battery you are using just right to balance the car.

I was running the larger Hobbywing ESC, which has some down sides, as if you want a slick layout you need the servo forward and out (with a micro spektrum RX), and the ESC is tough to push inwards.

Now I'm running a Justock, which can sit a fair way in, and the servo then had room to come back and in, benefit of all that, is I could shim my battery inwards to get my balance, car felt more responsive with these changes.

Other great point of the Photon I hope they don't drop on the new model, balance holes on the shock towers, seriously just get two metal skewers or something, bend them at the tips, and you have a instant way to check your balance by lifting the car from the small holes, so easy to do.

+1 on the balance holes...i haven't used skewers, but a couple of paper clips tied to the end of about 12 inches of string always gets me close...

Most big races and/or clubs run Solaris Medium or Sweep True Blue premounts

I dont use a Tekin, but what chassis are you using? Have you done the servo mod?

I'd highly recommend the servo mod... makes it look like a totally new car and much neater.

You really don't 'need' to rotate the servo to get a good layout with the right gear, I actually don't see the point in rotating the servo unless your going to run a swing or sliding rack.

It's interesting the new EX seems to be going a swing rack, which it seems follows Xray etc, they say it's less sensitive in steering feedback to the car, while being more direct with less slop, though I think it's a shame to move the servo out further when running this type of rack, but it does give more ESC room, but with any luck another 6-12 months and 'all' the brands will have much more compact speed controllers.

Some other companies receivers though are almost embarrassingly over sized...

How's the handling change? My exotek chassis is set up for it.

Thanks. We had a Toys 4 Tots race yesterday at Horsham and someone modified our awards to look like a Santa FJ.

Anyway - TOP drivers took down the four classes we competed in. Larry won super stock TC and 13.5 boosted 1/12. Goat won WGT in his debut. I took down stock 1/12.
