T.O.P. Racing "Photon" 1/10 EP Touring Car

I would have to disagree..
Price of a TOP 280 +-
Price of a T3 2011 $400
Price of T3 2012 $450-500ish??
1.You don’t need a narrow chassis
2.Battery braces $40.00
3.Don’t need a gear diff. The 11 doesn’t come with one however the 12 does.
So far Im up to $320, For a great car easy to drive.
Top springs cost around 3.99 a pair
Xray’s are $12 Or something like that…
Dollar to dollar TOP is still the best bang for the buck IMO. But to each their own I guess.

I never once have run those battery braces. They are not necessary. You dont need more weight on the battery side
One xray arm is 6.75 each, 2 top arms are 8.99
I'm not going to argue about the quality of each of the cars but even if you add the gear diff. I recommend the yokomo diff you are at about 410 or so.
But I prefer the feel of a ball diff on carpet in Stock and Super Stock.

-1 on the alum. battery braces. Thats 25g of weight you do not need!
The exo chassis is nice (Have not seen the EJ in person)
I had no trouble getting the spec-r/yoko diff in. I think I used a 1mm spacer (Whatever size comes with the upro).
Interesting fact, the spec-r = 26g, the upro = 18g...
Steel drive shafts 4g aluminium 2g
I toughened my car up to run mod then lost interest... Now I have a bullet proof drivetrain for stock
I think I need a life.....

As for weight, well considering how far under weight my Photon can be (it is such a light car), weight of the alloy braces in kind of a mute point, while on weight, the Yoko brand gear diff is 20-21g I think, lighter than SpecR, actually the same weight as the stock ball diff I think.
It's the 2012 car, which in an odd move by an RC company, looks to be coming out actually in 2012.
I still run hot and cold for TOP as a brand, I'd love to know where to buy one for $280 though (LOL), but trying to run a narrow rear track with a BD5 diff sucks, and seriously, value vs other cars is nowhere near as good as it used to be, bang for your buck wise I think TA and Serpent have the Photon beat now, we love comparing to Xray etc cause that is easier, but TOP can't touch Xrays support or guides, and that is real important to some, lacking from TOP in general, one of the few brands around with next to no setup advice, and very lean manuals etc.

Myself Hanulec, OD, Tony Rumple, And a few others are here to answer any questions you may have. The car has been out for almost 3 years now so Most of the setup discussion has actually happened already unfortunatley.
The car is still very competitive.
As for coming with Xray type setup books. Why would TOP waste their money on making a setup book like Xray's when you can just go to their Website and download it for free. The Geometry and physics of the setup translates well from one car to the other.
I read that Xray book front to back a couple of times and it helped me a lot. I wasn't driving an xray at the time and havent for about 5 years.

Thanks guys. I was kind of replying to bishops view of the lack of support from top .. anyway..
I got my super clean.. but used photon today.. it currently has a gear diff in front and ball in the back. What's the benefit? I have read about rear gear diff and spools up front. But im not certain what setup does what.. last time I raced touring was a xray fk05 around 2006... lol its been a while. Good thing is I learned gear diffs a bit from racing 8thbut scale offload. But just not sure in TC.

As for the weight, we must disagree on that one
