Am I the only one who uses the layshaft adjustment to set mesh?, it's so easy, fit gears, push together and tighten motor, back off and lift layshaft, perfect easy mesh every time, often allows you to go up one without touching motor screws.

Couple of questions.
I've heard that the Tamiya 417 rear shock tower will work on the photon, is this true.
Is everyone running the 46 bones in the front and the 44.5 in the rear? If not can u explain the benefits of running different length bones.

Besides Amain, is there anywhere else I can get a gear diff from? Would like to have it by the weekend, not sure if Amain will get it to me in time on the east coast.

Thanks,
Chris

Order from top racing USA. I know they have the u-pro difs, but not sure on the any other types. Call them and see when they can send it out. Phone: (650) 583-8898
topracingusa@yahoo.com

I have gotten stuff fast from them. (3 days and they are in CA and I am in Chicago.)

Wrong. The correct statement would be -all MOLDED spur gears aren't perfectly round-

Machined gears like PRS and Xray spurs are within acceptable tolerances of being perfectly round.

Also keep in mind you can have a slightly bent layshaft, motor shaft, or pinion gear that isn't cut dead center. Some pinions out there are very cheaply made....

BTW- not bustin your ballz, just sharing a little knowledge and havin fun.

There have been a bunch of changes to the Photon since its introduction in summer 2009 -- but as far as I know there isn't anything major coming. The nice thing about TOP is that they don't wait for their '10 or '11 car to bring changes/upgrades. The changes come along whenever they are available.

The car is still very relevant. There is a new narrow chassis in the works but not expected for release anytime soon. I would recommend an upgraded steering bellcrank from TOP or KingHeadz. The axle pin covers are also a very good option. There are lots of options if you choose to Bling it out, but none are necessary. Good luck with the purchase. If you have any questions about the build or setup, hit us up.
