use fishing line and lift the car off the ground very accurate way to balance
#617
but wouldnt hanging the car compared to balancing the chassis be different.
Balancing from below the chassis to me makes more sense and should be more accurate.

Yes you will see more difference.
But it's not more accurate. the result is the same.
When you are balancing from below it's easier to see the very small difference.

It seems strange that the kit setup has the ackerman on the hubs in the forward position?
Could the hubs possibly be molded so that the rear hole is the extreme rear hole as used by the old xray hubs? So that the fwd hole is actually equal to the rear hold on other cars.

Yes, the car is super light - Even with 5-cells at the Reedy Race and the 1425g limit I still had to add 55g to get my car to the legal limit - That's with a box stock kit with only titanium tie-rods added to the car. I did run a small servo but still I would have had to add quite a bit of weight.
As far as balancing, I prefer the holes in the shock towers as you don't need special balancing posts to check your car. You can simply use two xacto blades or even a 1.5mm wrench to lift the car. As long as the table you are checking on is close to level then you can feel very small differences in picking up/setting down the car to balance it (within 5g). I've double checked this with my 4 corner scales and I can get it closer this way than the balancing pins.

I'd be more willing to try no saver if Futaba sold its nylon gears in bulk. $40 for a full gear set it too rich for me.

I've also done it without tires on and just made sure that the chassis is parallel to the table. I think both ways will get the job done.

One of the guys I was racing with at the weekend was running a Photon and I got a chance to have a good look at it.
I have to say I was even more impressed with it in the flesh than in the pictures.
Im very tempted.
Perhaps next season!

We should have 4 or 5 Photon's running at the Much-More UK GP this coming Fri/Sat/Sun. We're trying to get some video established but unsure if it will work until we get to the track on Thursday. Here's the link.

Unfortunately my order is delayed but good things come to those who wait
The TOP guys are pushing to get orders out and are packing everything as quick as possible.

This weekend in Scotland - several Photon's racing
Hi All,
As Keith says, keep an eye on our live race feed here:
http://www.bbk-online.net/bbkRClive/
or
http://muchmoreracing.com/news/news-...-coverage.html
Potentially the most Photon's ever to race at one event in the world to date.....keep on eye on how the guys get on. There are also several Scythe's competing.
There is also a TOP European forum set-up which contains a Photon thread so keep an eye on it
http://www.top-racing-europe.eu/forum
Looking forward to racing my car again this weekend, it's sitting in front of me on my computer desk and looks raring to go.
Thanks,
Dan

If there's time at the weekend I'll happily let you have a few laps with the car, I'll have a much neater electrics install this weekend I promise!
I was very happy with the way the car performed right out of the box with the kit setup.
Cheers, see you in a day or so.
