Hello... So I'am just getting back into the sport and I just picked up a Photon. I didn't really feel like looking through 300+ pages of info LOL. Just wanted to know if there is anything I should know about a head of time and what parts are I should stock up on... It will be a rubber car..

Thanks for your input.

Default Axel pin holder

I just received my axel pin holders, they came with no directions. Can anyone tell me how to install them? I know you use their pins, do I still use the set screws? Which way does the flange on the holder go? Thanks.

Welcome to the club. Nothing is required, the car is pretty good right out of the box. Some things that I can recommend are:

Shims of all sizes for adjustments.
Axle pin covers- they replace the need for a set screw to hold the pin in. Frees up the cvd and easier maintenance.
Aluminum bell crank- stock bellcrank seems to be the weakest part of the car, although I've only broken one and that was the first day that I ran the car.
Gear diffs are a nice option. I've really enjoyed running them recently.

If you're building the car from scratch, make sure that you prethread the sway bar ball cup before threading the red aluminum insert into them. Otherwise, they WILL break. Even after prethreading, don't rush the assembly.
Replace the set screws in the steering bellcrank/ackerman piece with a round head screw to prevent stripping the set screw through the ackerman piece.
Use a small brushed motor shim under the shock pistons to take up the slop.

It's too late to think of anything else. My brain isn't working right now. Good luck with the car. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Use the new pin that came with the covers. Build just like normal WITHOUT the set screw. Slide the cover on from the wheel nut side and the wheel bearing will hold it in place.

Hi
I notice that the front steering block will hit the front sway bar link when the link is position straight (90 degree to the chassis) and the turning angle is quite limited. is this ok? what is the normal steering angle when using hudy set up tool?

My steering arms hit the rollbar mount at full lock too, it's not too much to worry about though

I have the drop links canted forward on my car. They still move freely, and the steering is not interfered with.

When you canted forward the drop links, you are actually stiffening the front sway bar which adds more rear grip and this will actuall have less steering, isn't it?

Sure, it makes the bar run a little stiffer. However if you are capable of discerning a 2mm lever length difference on a bent-wire bar you are a far superior driver to me! I'll take that over fouling the steering arm every time.

Is your rear sway bar canted backward to match the front or u left it at 90degree?
