Default Loosening up the ball cups

I just went through all my ball cups to loosen them up. I was able to get just about every ball cup nice and loose with just once spin of the body reamer from smaller hole of the ball cups except for the lower shock ball cups. I went as far as 3 turns on the lower shock ball cups and they don't seem to loosen up.

Has anyone else done this? I'm kinda worried about reaming them anymore. Anyone else experience this?

Just check that you havent wound them in too far onto the shaft and the actual shock shaft isnt causing the cup to bulge on the inside.

I havent had to ream any ball cups as yet.

Cheers

if you screw the cup on the shock shaft too far, the shaft will deform the inside diameter of the cup.. on mine i have approx 2.5 threads visible on the bottom of shock shaft.

I got just about as much threads showing. It does not look like they are bulging through.

I put some 18.5mm ball cups on there(only because those are the only spare ball cups that I have), and I was able to get those to be as free as the rest of the ball cups on the car. These might have been damaged at some point. I'll pick up some new lower ball cups and that will hopefully do it.

Thanks

Default Ballcups

I had the same problem due to winding them in to far and cousing a bump on the inside of the cup. I just used the ingraving tip off my Dremmil and moved it in circles inside the cup till it freed up. Now I leave 1.5 mm thread showing of the shaft as advised by one of my clubs photon drivers. End of problems

I've been looking at several of the Photon setups on Tchub and many like to sweep the front arms back by placing a larger washer behind the front front hinge pin holder versus the front back. In affect adding toe out.

What does this do versus just dialing in toe via the steering turnbuckles?

It give better forward traction, no more rebuilding diff and no diff slipping during the race
