Without a doubt you can break the bellcrank while using a saver if the servo is not positioned correctly. I have not had this problem but I have seen it on a few other cars. However in every case it was a user error situation. Just make sure that your bellcrank can not touch the servo or servo mounts even at full through. If you do this you will not break a bellcrank.

I second that. I am also looking for a kit. May consider a used car.

Yep - the hinge pin has broken into two parts !

Apologies for the rubbish 'phone pictures - no macro mode and I can't be bothered to get my DSLR out.

The 14mm screws are also both bent.

What's really weird though is that the front suspension arm, drive shaft, hub, tie rods etc are all fine. The suspension mounts are also OK.

Has anyone else managed to break a hinge pin on the Photon ??
Anyone from TOP got any comments ?

Any other thoughts / comments (other than be more careful )

Daniel.
I did exactly the same thing. clipped a board and snapped a hinge pin. didnt break the arm, uprights or anything else just the hinge pin.

I hear drill bit blanks can make strong hinge pins.

The hinge pins seem to be very hard.. Which is great because they don't bend, but when hit pretty hard they do break. Also says alot about the A-arms and uprights.

I have broken one rear hinge pin from a hard impact; paying more attention to a friends car instead of my own during a practice day.

The Titanium Racing spool and BD5 pulley is a bomb-proof combination

I guess I am not the only one who has broken hinge pins then...

Oh well, be more careful !

I have broken the crank without a servo saver, switched to servo saver and have not broken one since..

Hinge pin.. I had the exact same break last weenend, it looks exactly like the one in the pic... WOW.....

Brandon THE GAME Hess took the pre-lim to the ROAR Onrad Asphalt Nats last weekend at the C. 4 rounds of qualifing with the 2 best counting for qualifing.. Triple mains
First main: he was leading and pulling away when a backmarker took him out.... finished last.....
Second main: A man on a mission, lapped the field, fast lap 10.2 nearest lap 10.7 He had 8 laps better than this..
Third Main: See second main.. 33 laps.. 12 second laps 1, 11 second laps: 7,
25, yes 25 laps 10 second laps...

Of all the 81 laps in the a mains he was in first 79 out of 81 2 laps when he got taken out....

Dam impressive run ... I did not have a good day, mostly it was my own doing ( wrong body, etc )... Funny part was 3 people asked if I want to sell my Photon at the race... Ain't gonna happen.... I really like this car...

As long as they are already hardened blanks they probably will work ok.. If they arn't hard.. You will have a Z pin without hitting anything LOL..... Ask me how I know
