If I crank the volts up high enough on my T35 I can get a MVP to whistle the star spangle banner.

you're probably not gearing it right... also check that the brushes are sat in and that the timing is adequate.

last but not least... the MVP is a stocker... 27 simple... it might be revving fast, it's no match for any mod... believe me... don't believe the figures....

Thanks for your advise....

Do you have any details on the twisted comm? How does it look like...

What do you think it should be the ratio for my V2 9x2 with my PRO4? Should I test at 9.1?
As for the brush, I will double check again.
The timing was set to the third marker, I think 18degree.

the MVP that reved to 44k had about a third of the leading edge (i think) of the brush taken off. it was also done with no load on the motor. it would have no torque though.

The leading edge is the edge of the brush that the Comm is spinning towards (do I have this right?)

So... Can ANY arm fit in a V2 can?

I have absolutely no clue how to gear a 9 turn... here in europe we're stuck with 12T... sorry, can't help.

btw, on that ballistic (under no load) MVP, it was probably the trailing edge that was cut... in order to "increase" timing.

Bernard: this is stock motor black magic... don't bother trying it. When you run mod, the cool thing is that you don't have to fiddle with all kinds of tricks in order to gain that extra 50 rpm.... just mash the throttle and go!

Some V2 tricks from personal experience:
- use sprint brushes... it makes quite a difference
- only tighten the head as little as possible... put in on, screw both screws in, when the screw head touches the aluminium, stop. The head won't move any more. If you tighten it further, some strange things happen (the head gets out of whack it seems).
- If you run on carpet, clean the inside of the head more often than you'd think... carpet bits get stuck in, burn, and goo up the whole thing
- On the 12T, I run max timing (fourth mark). No clue how to time lower winds

I'm VERY happy with my V2... this and the GP 3300 are IMHO two main factors that can revive electric racing, they bring back the fun in it!

Paul

I have just been playing with my Orion Core Stock motor. I have switched to the endbell off a spare V2 Modified motor. Running the hardest springs possible and the sprint brushes, also still using 24' timing.
It has picked up alot of RPM, feels pretty good in the car and seems to have not lost too much torque. Will test it at the track this weekend against the regular stock guys.

I know this does break all the rules of stock, just an experiment though. Next development of the Orion V2 endbell is to somehow comply with the rules.

Anybody else done this yet???

Back to my original question, does anyone know what part of the V2 motor runs hotter and is this a disadvantage to the performance of the motor. I have seen Surikarn run the core type endbell because of the the temperatures where he races.
